Loving the club doesnt make you a good coach or Lampard would of been the best manager in the world at Chelsea. No problem with him earning his stripes as a coach in the youth levels like Lee Tomlin is doing but absoultley should not be considered as under 21 manager like some people have suggested

Is under 21s that big of a gig ?

Anyone connected with the 1st team is infinitely more important than U21s . Its not like we've been employing top class U21 coaches in the past 🤷

Course it is. Its a vital stage of their development to reach the first team. Petty for all his faults was coaching at one of the best academies in England in Aston Villa before he got the job and oversaw a fair few players making it to the first team. Andy King has no coaching experience whatsoever, needs to earn his stripes in the younger age groups first

It's easy to forget it's not just the main man that goes, it's almost a complete overhaul of all the coaching staff that changes when a manager leaves.

We know with NFP and MON how important backroom staff and assistants are so I thought this would be a good place to discuss the potential backroom staff that would accompany the next manager.

If god forbid it's Cooper, I've found the following information . First three listed left with Cooper and then further down some stayed.

Just shows you how confusing it is because Cooper looks like had half of staff leave with him and half stay!

  • Alan Tate (Assistant): Worked on first-team staff under Cooper at Swansea City and joined him at Forest in September 2021.
  • Danny Alcock (Goalkeeper Coach): Worked with Cooper for the England U17s before moving to Forest in September 2021.
  • Dave Tivey (Head of Physical Performance): Worked with Cooper for England U17s and Swansea City before joining Forest.

Meanwhile, the club have announced that three of Cooper’s assistants will be staying on under Nuno:

  • Steven Reid (First Team Coach): Former Republic of Ireland international took a sabbatical to be a wellbeing and confidence coach in 2022/23 before returning to join Cooper’s staff in summer.
  • Steve Rands (Head of Analysis): Linked up with Cooper at Swansea and moved with him to Forest in 2021. One of the most experience analysts in English football.
  • Andy Reid (First-Team Coach): Appointed to first-team staff in August 2022 after 18 months as U23s Head Coach. Forest said there would be discussions over the festive period about Reid's role.

A number of other staff will stay on under Nuno, including Set Piece Coach Simon Rusk, who only joined the club last week. Head of Performance Alek Gross, who joined in the summer, will also remain.

So have these first 3 names come with Cooper. Tate, Alcock,  Tivey.  ?

I wouldn't mind him getting Steven Reid. He's a very intelligent Man with a lot of football experience behind him.

I think I read somewhere he went off and done a Physcology Degree after he finished playing Football.

He'd be a very good addition to our backroom team.

Alan Tate will be assistant.

Danny Alcock - GK Coach.

Dave Tivey - fitness coach but we’ll have to pay Plymouth for him.

Stephen Rands - coach/analyst but again we will have to pay, this time Forest.

Mike Marsh is a coaching option but would require compensation to Preston.

Andy Hughes - Set piece coach but need to pay Norwich for him.

Options available and realistic:

Dave Watson (GK coach)

Ray Lewington (coach/assistant)

Mark Hulse (fitness coach)

Stuart Reid (set piece coach)

We won't have to pay Plymouth anything for Tivey, he was only employed as a Consultant and his contract ends on 30 June.

Is this nailed on or just a guess based on his previous coaching teams?

I find it strange that Tate hasnt been formally announced as he is unemployed so you would expect him to be appointed pretty much the same day, so could it be that the make up of his backroom team is going to be different to previous. Hopefully we will start to see his team take shape and a few announcements made over the coming 72 hours.

Marescas back room team was announced in one go wasn’t it? Imagine we will get the same announced again?

It's amazing how times have changed! Replace an 'e' to an 'a' and we've gone from Tete to Tate!

That’s true

He had skeleton staff, and they were all beginners.  No set-piece coach, no real strength & conditioning guys…and as a result an unimaginable number of injuries once we were in the PL and chasing games.

Not his fault of course as we were a Champo club.  Forest are still building up the back room team even now.  I assume you’re better stacked in this department?  With more stability, swanky training facilities etc he might be better up to succeed with Leicester.

According to our staff page we have the head of fitness still here, and some other back room staff including medical, but in terms of coaches there is none here at the moment, we started with a clean slate with Enzo, and everyone Enzo brought in, he then took them out with him.

A web page from the official site? I wouldn't imagine it would be updated for a while!

Matt Reeves and Tom Joel have been here since at least 2015 in some capacity, Mitch Willis maybe just as long but unsure. I think their roles are usually dependent upon whether the manager brings anyone in with them but generally our sports science and medical department doesn’t change with management changes.
