Southgate kept talking about bringing the likes of Mainoo, Palmer and Gordon into a "difficult environment". Mainoo walked into a top half Premier league midfield at 18 and looked like he'd been there 5/6 years. Palmer left the best team in the land and dragged an shite Chelsea into a European spot. I think these lads will be fine with playing these games.

Thing is some of us were saying it was a waste of time giving him the qualifiers for this, and it would sure as shit be a waste giving him this tournament. Goes back years at this point.

Can't wait for him to piss off now.

Wouldn't be the first side to stink up the tournament and then go deep, Portugal spring to mind when they won it without winning a game in 90 minutes or something.

Would anyone find any joy in winning it in this fashion? I know people will say they'd take it and the performances don't matter but I honestly wouldn't be arsed celebrating it

Maybe, but if you look at all the other groups, their defenses have nearly all been leaky.

Few mistakes, compact and organised defenses is a description that fit all four sides in the group.

Some tasty games shaping up in the knockouts!

Perhaps but I reckon it's more the intent of the teams in the other groups to push for wins therefore leaving gaps.

Haven't really looked at potential match ups tbh

Reckon this England team is duller than Leicester circa 2017 - 2024.

That's some going!

It’s as bad as the Craig Levein era. I was a season ticket and I’ve forgotten about 95-% of what happened in those games, as it was as dull as dish water.

The fans/player/manager relationships have definitely fallen off a cliff.

Players trying to sell the fact they've 'achieved' top of the group.

I agree. I think he's done this time. I think some are thinking it'll click and we'll be okay. I think this team will take an absolute battering soon. If not in the next round, then the one after. They look a lot more like a team that are about to fall apart, than one that is about to click. Very few signs of anything good developing in my opinion.

It's a serious blank patch in my memory of supporting Leicester. I remember barely anything around that time

We beat Tottenham 3-2 from memory in the FA Cup. That Canadian fella scored a rocket but big old Mark De Vries turned into prime Messi and won us the game.

Same number of right backs too!

That said, we still beat Spurs during that era 😂

When was the last time a manager was sacked mid-tournament? I'd back half of this forum to get us a win tonight.
Slovenia have a few decent players, but for gods sake, just tell the players "Score as many goals as possible" and we win.
