Thought that was a dull game, but the difference from that to how England play is that it was a ‘controlled’ dull.

Neither side were too bothered about winning, both defences knew they probably wouldn’t concede ( whatever your view is of Simon’s goal) and both were seemingly happy to take the point.

It was organised and controlled, not disorganised and chaotic.

It very obviously should have been given. Horrendous decision. Of course it would have to be the English officials that conspire to mess something up so badly 🙄

Yep the replays they've shown after the game make it look less likely that Maignan was impeded from making a genuine play at the ball.

I dunno about you, but if I’d spent my entire adult life on a strict diet as a professional athlete, you’re damn straight I’d be all over the lager and pasties once I could.

Rooney is svelte compared to the fat fvck I’d become.

I must be the only one who thought it was offside. Don't think you can say he wasn't interfering with play.

He wasn’t in the keeper’s line of sight, nor close enough to him to impede him. His presence had zero effect on the outcome.

He was in an offside position. Point two if you've ever played in goal having an opponent that close is going to have an adverse effect on your ability.

So, whilst I agree he was not in direct eye line he was close enough to impede.

In this should VAR have over turned the original offside decision?

Guess that is the subjective issue .

No because it isn’t a clear and obvious error… so the correct outcome was to stick with the on field decision, which was offside

I don't see how it took the officials an eternity to watch it and say

"He's in front when the ball is struck

He doesn't touch the ball

But he's near the keeper and in his eyeline, so could be interfering

Nothing obvious to overturn the on field decision.

Offside, let's carry on."

So really they were totally justified in their decision but took too long ?

Rather than saying it’s an outrageous decision or brining controversy on yourself as some have said ?

I’d expect France to win like Spain did and a draw in the other game maybe ?

That disallowed goal could prove pretty vital .

We might end up playing 3rd in this group .

Just seen this on Twitter regarding the Austria v Netherlands match .

“This is going to be like the end of an F1 GP, when the National Anthems play”

Very true !
