I won’t lie, I don’t watch a lot of our Women’s Team by virtue of it isn’t on TV.

Was that an average performance, below or above? Genuinely intrigued

Probably on par with how we had been during the start of the season, but we've played a lot, lot better than that recently.

We're pretty much safe now I'd like to think, just one more win should seal it.

Not so upset about not being able to make it today now 😂 it wasn't great.

Not the best performance today, and the referee was woeful.

Shannon was isolated, I think we missed Mace along with Missy Goodwin who has been unwell.

Leitzig kept us in it, made some great saves again.

Agree Ruby Mace is a big miss, wasn't really the game for Momiki yesterday she struggled to get involved

Arsenal game at the Emirates on Tuesday 15th April. Live on Sky. 7.30pm k.o.
Club coaches leave at 1.45 😂

Taking my lad down, would have preferred Borehamwood though.

Does anyone know of any decent WSL podcasts?

I listen to the guardian women's football weekly, but I just find that it's just 95% arsenal and Chelsea chat, then the rest of the teams share the other 5%.

Also, the pundits don't seem to have much knowledge of the club's outside of the top 4.

Sounds just like the PL

Leicester City Women history-maker needs contract decision as milestone win on table at Arsenal
Janice Cayman became Belgium's leading appearance-maker and shows no signs of slowing down, suggesting there is a call to be made when her contract expires this summer

Survival is now within touching distance for Leicester City Women, as is a milestone mark of their progress.

Solid form in the second half of the season has seen City move clear of the WSL’s relegation spot and victory at Arsenal on Tuesday night would move them to the brink of safety.

Beating the Gunners would lift City 10 points clear of Crystal Palace, with survival then confirmed if the division’s bottom club lose to Chelsea the following Wednesday.

They cannot get complacent while they are mathematically at risk of falling into the second tier but they are perhaps comfortable enough to start looking up.

A win at Arsenal would be momentous, mostly for getting the better of a side on a six-game winning run in the WSL, who still have a shot at the title and who are in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

But three points would also take City to 19 and would see them eclipse last season’s tally of 18 with three matches to spare.

City have improved year on year since being in the WSL and for a long time it seemed like manager Amandine Miquel would not be able to keep that upward trend alive.

But the return of attacking players from injury has helped form improve, and they’re now looking good to achieve a personal best.

Record-breaker Cayman not slowing down

Speaking of milestones, City’s Janice Cayman became the most-capped Belgian player of all time over the international break.

She was already Belgian’s most-capped female player, but has now overtaken the men’s leading appearance-maker Jan Vertonghen, picking up her 158th and 159th caps as the Red Flames lost 5-0 to England, but then earned their revenge with a 3-2 victory.

Cayman has been in the Belgium squad for 18 years and there are very few signs that her role is going to decrease in importance any time soon.

It’s the same at City. Cayman is 36 but is one of 31 players in the WSL to have played in every game so far this season.

For context, Cayman is three years older than the next oldest player to have been ever-present, Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly.

Especially in a squad hit by injury, Cayman’s fitness and consistency has been a huge help for Miquel.

With her deal running out this summer, it feels like there should at least be an offer on the table to keep her at the King Power for another year. She’s not thinking about winding down.

Speaking in Belgium last week, Cayman said: “I know the end of my career is coming closer, but I still enjoy it too much and I still feel good physically.

“At some point, the physical aspect could become a factor, but that is not the case yet. I am not thinking about quitting at all.”

Torres on target for Colombia

Hannah Cain netted for Wales and Yuka Momiki was on the scoresheet for Japan, but perhaps the biggest City goal of the international break went to Karla Torres, who scored her first senior goal for Colombia.

The teenager rose high and got plenty of power on her header to flick in a cross in a 1-1 draw with Japan.

She’ll now be hoping to get off the mark for City too. So far, the winter signing has made three WSL appearances, all from the bench.

I can agree that we should be offering her an extension, probably another 1 year.

She's not had the best season with us, but pops up with critical goals now and then and though she's not been amazing, she's reliably good and always works very hard.

But if I had to choose between loosing Takarada, Momiki or Cayman...I think I'd have to say Cayman as I feel that Mace can do what Cayman does well.

‘It’s going to be a challenge’ – Arsenal boss Slegers previews Leicester City test
By Daniel Pentland / April 15, 2025
Arsenal head coach Renée Slegers says that she expects her side to face a Leicester City team that are full of fight at the Emirates Stadium this evening.
The Gunners play host to The Foxes in their latest Barclays Women’s Super League fixture in N7.

Leicester City are yet to win on the road this season but they have been in good form of late and Arsenal boss Slegers is expecting a competitive game in North London this evening.

“I think they’re going to fight really hard for points and I think they’ll want to close down spaces as much as they can,” Slegers said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “They’re going to run, they’re going to battle and they’re going to try and win duels and create things against us, so we’ll have to be on top of it.

“Leicester have a lot to play for and it’s going to be a challenge for us because I think the way they press and the player-for-player system at moments, we’ll have to be really good on the ball to be able to beat that. They also have a little bit of threat upfront as well that we have to manage during the game but we look forward to it, we look forward to the challenge.”

Leicester City have the joint-best defensive record in the bottom half of the Barclays Women’s Super League table and Slegers knows that breaking The Foxes down will be a challenge.

She said “I think they’ve been doing well. I think they use their strengths well. They’re very happy to defend, I think they work really hard as a group. It’s hard to score against them, both from open play and set pieces and they need it as well, they need to get every point possible. Of course, our away game at Leicester at the start of the season was a hard game for us as well. We ended up scoring one goal, so we know that the challenge is going to be big.”

Arsenal have a huge UEFA Women’s Champions League tie against Lyon at the weekend but Slegers says that clear goals have been set for the team in terms of league form.

She said “We’ve been clear as a group that we have two objectives for the block. One of those is getting four out of four [wins] in the WSL. That’s what we want to go for, that’s all we can do and that starts against Leicester, so it’s a big goal for us to reach that. All eyes are set on a very good game against Leicester.”

Arsenal’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Leicester City kicks-off at 7.30pm this evening. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.

Whilst I don't think there's a world in which we win tonight (would love to eat my words), I hope we give it a proper go, we've got nothing to loose really.

Same as when we play Man City next weekend.

We've really struggled to keep it tight at the back, particularly playing better teams, so let's just take it to them.

You keep giving the ball away you’ll get punished

Our teams just don’t love the ball enough.
