Maybe he's just not that good but Maswanhise is seemingly one we could have gotten more out of, 21 goals in 54 starts in the PL2 - a loan at 18 or 19 could have been the springboard he needed.

Maswanhise has been on trial with Stockport recently, scored a hattrick for their reserves. We seem to bring through lot of youngsters who show great promise at under 18 level but then struggle to step up when they move up to under 21 level or aren't loaned out if they do manage to step up.

Can anyone confirm if these are scholarships (16-u18) or pro contracts (18+) please?

 

"Scholars" would indicate scholarships which my understanding is up to the u18 age group but I think some of these players are over 18, which would mean they would be released at 18 or offered pro contracts?

My mistake then, he played 2 cup games for us inc. a full 90. I don't, and am not, disputing he was crap, just that the phrasing "he was horrible for us" makes it sound as if he'd clocked up half a season's worth of apps and been the bane of our lives.

Could it be because our manager in charge of that team is consistently awful and keeps job regardless.

Yes, across various categories within the men’s setup. 

It feels about right.

 

If you think of it like a triangle, you need more coming in at the bottom, as you’ll unearth some talent. 
 

As they progress through though, they’ll get cut.
