Clubs can request fixtures they’d like in the Christmas period can’t they. Do us or Liverpool always request it? Have no idea why, but it happens too often to be coincidence.

I would rather the home games v Ipswich and Southampton, without being too presumptuous about winning them, came earlier in the season or were more spread out, one in the bag is worth two in the bush or whatever, it's OK plotting on paper that you're going to steamroll through May and win those pressure games, I'd rather have the opportunity earlier to get the points. They're potentially your two "easiest" games and most other clubs will have had them by then so we'll be playing catch up in those instances. It'll be good for the neutral, it's almost as if it was contrived to be that way.....

Can't really grumble...

 

Monday night first game, and Liverpool/Man City Xmas fixtures isn't ideal but as a trade off for that run in, I'd take it all day long. That's potentially a winnable 12 points against teams that are likely to be around us. That's huge.

Is the run-in actually that beneficial? I'd rather play teams that most likely don't have anything riding on their season by then. I don't rate us playing against relegation rivals when it matters...
