Surprised Brighton are meeting that release clause rather than just bidding 30m.

they must know Leeds need to sell

Can only assume that they tried and Leeds decision to stick him on the bench last night forced them to go to the RC

Exactly my thinking. £25-30m would've surely got that deal done and if not there must be better/cheaper options elsewhere. Seems very un Brighton like

He’s a decent player

but  leeds position - the buying club should be exploiting that

of course it’s possible that leeds no longer need to sell after the couple sales they’ve made or that they were intending selling others and keeping him.  So the release clause is the only means for Brighton to get him.

I'd like to think you are more intelligent than to think this so I'm going to assume you're being a silly billy!

Leeds aren't still in the Championship because Rutter isn't good enough.

Relax, it's a bit of fun at Leeds expense.

Like KDH, the jury is out whether he can cut it in the PL.

Personally think it's a lot of money for someone who total goal contributions were similar to Fatawu and Mavididi.

It could also be that the structure of the deal including bonuses and add ons etc hit the £40m and Leeds are reporting that his release clause has been triggered so as to save face etc and not be accused of selling another key player especially after lasts nights humbling.

Brighton may well be happy to go along with it being reported as the release clause being met when it could be £30m + £10m in add ons

Can't wait to see Ipswich get ruined this season. They were crap in both games against us.

They won’t get ruined he has built a team spirit, he has the town behind him and he’s a top top tactician !

they have bought well and are not finished - undoubtedly they needed a few quality additions but at home they will surprise a few - greaves for example is a quality signing yet we went for an unproven Italian in okoli - i do not get it tbh - madness

Wtfff, fair play to them for going for it.

Broja and Phillips are the typical signings that you see a club make when they go up that get you relegated. Big names that their clubs don't want because they haven't performed for 18-24 months.

I cannot say I'm hugely envious of these signings but new faces with a bit of quality does improve morale. Ipswich do look like they have plans in place and the recruits are all relatively young which should enable them to bounce back if the worst happens. It is vital that Leicester try to do something similar with at least one statement signing to give everyone a lift

Sheffield United had team spirit when they got promoted.

Hutchinson and Greaves aren't bad signings, but they overpaid for Liam Delap, who I wouldn't have over any of our forwards, and Conor Townsend and Ben Johnson aren't going to keep them up. Ben Johnson is basically to West Ham what Luke Thomas is to us, and Conor Townsend (whilst he'll only be back-up to Davis) is honking. WBA fans couldn't believe he got a Prem move.

Would you seriously be excited by Broja or Phillips? Broja isn't better than Vardy, nor Daka, and Phillips would be pointless for us with Wilf and Winks.

Our squad is better than theirs is - they will really struggle against established Premier League sides.
