Decent signing for me.  Premier league experience, thought of fondly at Fulham.  Has experience in the lower leagues too, shows the club are looking at next season also incase we do go down.

 

3 years means there's some value in him for us if he needs to move on

Part of the leadership group at Fulham. Sister’s a Labour MP. Obviously a good egg. And will only be 34 when his contract expires. So it’s a yes from me.

It gives me confidence that we do have random signings that go under the radar. SOMETHING happens behind the scenes. Whether he's any good for us we'll have to see mind. The last Fulham forward wasn't that bad for us and we didn't sign him permanently

Why is everything so black and white 
 

If he’s on £50,000 a week, that’s £7.8m over the course of the contract. The extra year is probably the reason he’s signed, but it makes financial sense as we clearly aren’t in a position to be spending £10m+ on younger players for every single signing. 
 

If we don’t outbid others we aren’t going to be able to get the number of frees needed to help us bulk up the squad whilst keeping our spending down on fees. 
 

People act like it’s dead easy to go out and buy proven players for a couple of million quid.

Amortisation is over 5 years now, but as you say, the contract length is irrelevant once it's over that threshold.

The Fulham perspective is interesting. They're unanimous in thinking he's a good player who has been a very consistent for them. He's obviously a top guy, too. It's a bit more mixed on whether they should have let him go, though. A few are quite surprised we've given him 3 years

I'm not sure what Bobby's motivations are, what his family situation is, how he liked mgmt at Fulham, etc.  But plenty of reasons a 31 year old might want to make a move other than unrefusable amount of cash.

 

Maybe Foxes have better Uno league?

What does it matter? We got him on a free to provide cover for two wingers who have no premier league experience.
