Concerns about the direction of the club

What? a generalised moan without any particular focus based, it seems, on events since the end of last season.

I could joyously pick the OP apart but I've better things to do.

Given your lack of reply in the other thread, I'd fancy my chances again tbh. Fancy another go?

Well what we can spend will explicitly be linked to turnover, so increasing turnover will always help. Only thing is that this kind of revenue stream seems very much a drop in the ocean.

I do have a hunch that they may be doing it as a bit of a defence when we present our case on our previous breach though. A bit of a "look at all the ways we've started bringing money in" type thing.

Or it's a test to see how much and how far they can go with charges for future Fox Hub and other sellable gear and media.

Saw Simple Minds earlier this year at Nottingham, backed by Del Amitri

Both were very good. Amazing that Jim Kerr is still belting em out at his age

Same gig but nottingham.

Great telling people I'm going to Nottingham to see simple minds. The band not the residents

I can guarantee there will be some absolute melts who buy this, everyone should boycott it. But therein lies the problem only action speaks.

The problem is all the people that subscribe to Sky/BT, buy things from the concourse, waltz around in replica shirts.

Extortionate?

Have you actually stopped to consider how much money it must cost to cover a single away game - last night they had at least 6 cameras (which they probably rent), which means paying for 6 camera men, plus they'd need some kind of OB studio (again, probably hired), transport, catering, a producer and some production staff, insurance, the media team...

It's not just a bloke with a video camera, this is pro-broadcasting - it's extremely expensive.  All so fans of the club can get to see matches that, historically, would never have been broadcast.

If it's not in your budget, fair enough - but don't go throwing around words like extortionate when you clearly haven't considered the financial implication of the club providing this service.  unless of course you expect to have such luxuries provided to you for free?

The friendlies have been on YouTube for free for the past 10 years haven’t they?

I did expect it this year as well to be honest. What a luxury.

All the camera equipment would probably be there anyway for their own analysis and social media stuff. You have no idea of the cost implications of just streaming it on their YouTube channel.

Smaller clubs with less resources than ours have charging less by half or more.

Understandably costs increases which there may need to be a charge but that smaller clubs than our own can achieve it for lesser price is pretty damning.

To the background of an increase on ticket prices and season tickets, it’s just not a good look.

The club apologists have incredible resilience resources tbh.

Still here baffled why they haven’t tapped in the open goal in front of them.

All those £25 donations to charity resulting of the physical card charge.

Within a couple of weeks, that money could have been donated openly to a charity with a big press piece. Possibly tie in with a new signing or one of the shirts being revealed.

This is easy public relations stuff. Kill the dissenters argument such as myself and win a load of goodwill.

Spot on!
For those saying that under Kinng Power the club has become a better resource for community relations, like local charities.
I remember every season, from when I first started watching us from 02/03(as a seven year old), the club giving a grand to around 19-23 charities a year. The number denoted by either premier league or championship home games. Each game, the chosen charity(some very specialist) would get a spread in the programme and a chosen player promoting it.

One of my parents ran one of the chosen charities(think they got Stearman); the money and publicity had such an impact.

If you donate just £10 you can help people like Jeff and Mike carry their cameras to a stadium far, far away, miles from civilisation. With your help, football fans will receive a vital service.

Thank you.

This is not the past 10 years.  Things are changing in broadcasting and media - most of the TV stations i am offered i now have to pay for an App - things cost more to produce, and we consume far more than we ever did.  To expect the club to simply provide their product for free is, like it or not, never going to happen again.

And have they really been on youtube since 2014 - i doubt that.

Why would the OB equipment 'be there anyway' - and even if they have invested in the gear, that still needs paying for, and still needs paid personnel to operate it.

"Lillehamring" writes *exactly* as I'd expect of someone influencing conversations on behalf of the club :-)

Reminds me of someone who posted with a 'Frank Sidebottom' avatar a long while back. They were particularly active after a controversial decision, maybe the Pearson sacking? They posted as if they were trying to shut down dissent. Probably nothing, but it pricked my antennae at the time!

Anyway, this is probably one for the mods to delete ;-)

If that's how i come across then it's purely a coincidence.

I write frankly and honestly and say how i see things, and i'm a big one for playing devil's advocate, for showing that there is often more than one way of looking at a situation .  That i'm not a hardcore cynic like most posters on here might flavour my opinions as 'sympathetic' to the club but, despite what people (the cynics) may think, i'm not an apologist for the club, i know they aren't perfect, i can see where they can improve. At the same time i'm not one of these fans who refuse to see any positivity, who dismiss any extenuating reasons, and simply find fault with absolutely everything and anything the club do or say.

For info, Shrewsbury stream every league game as per the EFL arrangements we had last year.

Well they did it for free last year, has so much changed in broadcasting and media over the past 12 months?

The equipment would surely be there anyway? Wouldn’t they be looking at the recording or at least clips after for analysis? I would bet that even the development squad games are recorded for the same purpose - Throughout all of the age groups.

Maybe I’m naive, but I do expect them to provide meaningless friendlies for free. No shitty commentary or pre-match - Just a stream of the game. Not exactly asking for much.

How many other clubs are charging £10 for ONE pre season game? Ipswich were doing £15 for 5 games, wolves was £5 per game, other clubs similar… they don’t need to it. Or at least not at that level, it’s money grabbing. It was free last year …

So many decisions at the moment just stink of absolute desperation. Desperate times, desperate measures and all that.

They must know that £10 for a pre-season friendly is objectively obscene. But if it’s one of your few chances to milk the Foxes Player revenue now you’re back in the Prem and can’t sell it weekly, and no one’s really going to check or know how many people paid to watch the friendly, and you might even be able to bang a bit extra on some income stream to meet some financial rules that are looking a bit tight…

Ok, maybe there’s not anything shifty going on here and they are just completely tone deaf at the moment. But it just all seems so wildly off that surely, surely, there’s more to it than someone thinking this was a good idea that would be well-received.
