Ndidi stays

Recommended Posts

If we get 2017-2021 Wilf back, this is great news; if it's the 2021-23 version, not so much. It's a risk, but probably a justifiable one given that there's no transfer fee and our budgetary constraints mean that we'll need to pick up a few on free transfers to balance out those we have to fork out on.

There will be no need for a settling in period, he knows us, we know him, he knows the league, we know what we're getting. Yes, you can expect him to miss a chunk of games each season and that is usually followed by a period of rustiness upon return but if we get a good 65%-70% of a season out of him each year and Hamza's around to cover then it's a position (presuming back to DM but :dunno:) that we don't have to worry about now.

I mean if he went, we'd have to replace him and it's doubtful we'd get anyone as good for free so we'd be having to lay out £20-£30m.

Makes sense.

A rare occasion of LCFC being smart with the amortisation PSR stuff to be honest

Delighted to have Ndidi back on board. He had a few seasons where he was below par, but keep in mind that was due in part to injuries but also his wife miscarrying. Players are human beings and things like that affect us all.

Here's how Ndidi compares to a player we are interested in:

O'Riley is probably the better player, but Ndidi outscored O'Riley and I think the Championship is significantly more competitive than the SPL.

If we signed a player with Ndidi's stats for 20M, we'd be excited and saying the player looks like a good signing. We just got someone with those stats for free!

Some feel like he won't be played as far forwards, which is possible, but note that N'Golo Kante was used quite far forwards by Deschamps at the Euros and he won man of the match twice in doing so. Winning the ball high up the pitch in the Premier League is a valuable commodity to have.

Looking at that you'd think Ndidi is an attacking midfielder and O'Riley the DM!

I think he will be deployed higher up the putch just like season.

Cooper has already stated that he has studied what went well from last season and Ndidi being pushed forward was inspired. He was key to disrupting the opposition particularly when they try and play out from the back.

if we go down becomes a sellable asset too or if he stays we know he can be class in the championship so i dont see why anyone would be against this.

Last two managers want a ball playing defensive midfield and have been trying to find different positions for him as he can’t pass the ball, and if he’s sellable asset why did one want him on a free :dunno:
