England post match

Recommended Posts

For those suggesting Klopp as next manager - I have no doubt it would be fun and I get why many would want him.

BUT - I question whether he could get his high energy gengenpress to work at an end of season tournament - especially given the deficit in coaching time he’d have compared to club football.

Additionally… I’m not certain the FA would go for him anyway.

Meh. I'm gutted England couldn't win a major tournament  for once in my life but hopefully Southgate realises he's taken England as far as he can.

And to be fair to the negative horse faced ****. He has taken us a fair way away from reality.

They’re also a possession based side.T hey actually narrowly won the possession battle against Spain in their matchup.

what’s that got to do with them speaking better english?

Kane is definitely injured. he has just scored 44 goals in a season for crying out loud.

if he's not, I hope we can use the run in to the next tournament to bed someone else in upfront, Watkins looks good and had a fantastic season himself.

but mainly I think Southgate has done his bit and now he's to be moved on, need a manager who's going look at this team with a fresh vision and no loyalties.

A few positives from the tournament but more negatives i would say.

Guehi and Stones are good enough to play together and Konsa looks like a great back up or option to go 3 at the back.

Mainoo looked good at a higher level

Watkins / Toney can take Kane's position

Palmer looks a real talent

Negatives

The Managers tactics

Bellingham - bit harsh and clearly shattered from the season / carrying an injury but he probably should have been used less and dragged in by the semi and final

Kane - Not quick enough to play in this team

Rice - Thought he was average for the whole thing

Walker / Trippier - time for both to retire.

We need a change at the top but it will 100% someone in Southgates mould and absolutely no chance it is Klopp. Howe probably the best option but for me they will go for Carsley or Potter.

Southgate retains his achievements record of only attaining relegation for Middlesborough intact. He has never been a good manager, far too defensive, far too loyal to waning players and prattles on way too much about inclusion over tactics. I'll be glad to see him gone then hopefully it'll be an end to no left feet left of field players and 90 minutes defending a lead plan 'A'.

So many players failed to materialise in this tournament that the final was only achieved via our now usual best side of the draw route. Tripper was a back slide specialist leaving the entire top left hand side vacant for England. Kane was usually most effective 25 yards from our own goal. Walker needs to retire. Rice was nowhere to be seen. Foden huffed and puffed with no impact. Bellingham was clearly washed out and in need of a holiday. The only consistent player was Saka and he was never in last nights game. Pickford had a decent tournament. That is about it. Boring boring England, hopefully this era is coming to an end.

Not a single Spanish player started all their games, whereas 8 England players started all of ours. Then Southgate turns around and talks about Spain having an extra day to recover and our players being tired. For someone who has managed a team for 8 years, he's not built a squad he trusts, he doesn't know how to manage player workload, and he doesn't know how to navigate tournament football.

He took Wharton, Eze, Bowen and Gordon and barely played them. He would have been better off taking Grealish as he might have started him once or twice to rest Bellingham or Foden and actually play a left winger.

Bellingham looked out on his feet, even in the first half.

We couldn’t really have got an easier run to the final which is fine if you can take advantage when you get there but again come against someone decent we don’t have the quality to win.

Not as gutted as I would have been if city had lost a final but I don’t think we will get to many more chances over the next couple of tournaments to get to another final .
Kane scored goal for fun but was shite in this tournament and should have been dropped long before the final.
suppose its time to go back to beating Estonia and Gibraltar or what ever pub team we play until the World Cup 😂

I imagine a lot of work places are very quiet this morning

Gordon was probobly the form player coming into the tournament.

Vastly underused.

He could have given England a similar outlet that Williams gave Spain.

Hire a stranger and appoint him as a Manager who doesn't understand football that doesn't speak English at all.

Fans will vote for choosing team and squad on the internet,

Tactics will be discussed in house of Lords and fight each others , who ever win their tactics will be apllied.

Just tell  the Manager making strange moves and behaves , shout at the refereee, rival Managers rival players to make cold them from the game , distracting them on the sidelines.

All opinions isn't it. I don't rate Guehi for England. Okay against the lesser sides but at fault for the Slovakia goal and also yesterday, a bit harsher but I felt a better defender would have got in front of the attacker.

Mainoo was a positive but yesterday looked like the occasion got to him.

I also think Foden is a negative. Might be a decent player for the best team in the Country but does next to nothing for England. Palmer did more than him in two substitute appearances.

Walker and Trippier awful. I find it bizarre how Trent is quickly pointed out for not being able to defend yet these two are as bad. The two goals yesterday, both down Walker's side, were a joke.

Southgate always has been, and will always be a ****ing shit football coach/manager. With the players he’s had access to during his tenure, failing to win anything is a major failure, in my opinion.

Walker was getting targeted all competition. If Pep is ruthless (which he is), he’ll sell the boy to Saudi as soon as he gets back and use Rico Lewis for a full season
