Muzzy_no7 Posted 18 August Share Posted 18 August I have a feeling that the money Spurs still owe us for Maddison has played some part in this.

Seems a solid enough signing and will hopefully help drive the team forward on the counter. Have you ever watched him play?!

Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 18 August Share Posted 18 August My Spurs supporting mates view when comparing Winks & Skipp. "Well, they're very similar players. Winks is a bit more no. 8 (so, yes, possibly held back a bit) and Skipp is more of a 6. Both can shoot, both can pass, neither are tricky. Winks is more dynamic. He can drive forward with the ball more. Skipp is a bit stronger. Better at holding the ball". Could it be that in the absence of a real passing CAM. Skipp's function is to perhaps allow Winks to play a little further forward?

Assume his "thinking" is to have a double pivot of Winks and Skipp, with Ndidi in the 10.

Why? do you think they’re short of cash? we’d have to pay Macquarrie anyway cos we’ve drawn down as we usually do.

Wilf as box to box with double pivot behind. Wilf can’t play as a ten - you need to be able to do things with the ball to be a ten !

One more a traditional #6 (Skipp/Ndidi) and one deep lying playmaker (Winks and hopefully Braybrooke) but both solid defensively.

I don't think it's about cash. But I wouldn't trust any trust any fee between two PL clubs, lot of inflating fees and dodgy deals to circumnavigate PSR. Something we don't really have. But we do need to be a lot tighter then the last time we were in the PL, having a decent screen in front of the back 4 will help.

We have nothing to gain in publicly inflating the deal quite the opposite this would benefit spurs, so unless they are planning on purchasing one of our players it’s not really beneficial in this instance. I feel like that's because Winks was brought in to play that one specialised role. He's perfect at it, moving the ball from A to B without much hassle. It's the role he rose to "fame" with at Spurs as well, his downfall, other than his injuries, were coaches attempting to play him elsewhere.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 19 August Share Posted 19 August For me I actually think Skipp is a good signing and will form a good partnership with Winks. My problem stems from the desperate need for attacking reinforcements, if we have just spent the majority of the budget on a defensive midfielder, then that’s concerning.

Iran Posted 19 August Share Posted 19 August Useless player and (more or less) useless signing for a position that really doesn't need prioritizing over a striker and/or #10.
K789 Posted 19 August Share Posted 19 August Getting more on Board with this. Mandela Keita would have been about 13 to 14 mill. For the extra money we get someone battle hardened in prem who can slot right in and a guy who seems like a leader. Welcome skippy
Popular Post Gloria Posted 19 August Popular Post Share Posted 19 August (edited) Having now had a while to process this, I'm optimistic Skipp will give us much needed solidity and depth in the middle. It's naive of us to believe all transfers are done in order of importance. Some are obviously simpler and quicker to get done, others take longer or just fall through. Cooper has acknowledged there are more to come (🤞), so let's just relax and enjoy the match later (🫣). Edited 19 August by Gloria Typo
