Ledecky is unreal. She’s been dominant at the 800 and 1500 since she burst onto the scene in London. Also a lovely person too, had the pleasure of meeting her once, very humble woman. So pleased for her. Legend.

Shout out to Paige Madden. Trained at Loughborough for a few years to overcome some difficulties, and she’s just got herself a bronze medal! Another cracking lady and a worthy medalist!

If someone taught her how to start she'd be immense. She recovered extremely well but consistently one of the slowest starters and it's the most important part of the race. You just can't give that much time up. 

 

Still, easy to forget how young she is. Probably got two more olympics.

Yea, she’s odd. Sometimes she a look like she’s running in treacle. This seems to be common in the sprinting world, lots of sprinters have rubbish starts, like Bolt and they just don’t bother to work on them. Seems odd, I’m sure there’s some logic in it.

That's exactly how she looked for the first ten or fifteen meters. It looked like she was wading through water trying to get out of the blocks and build some momentum. Absolutely odd. 

 

Bolt was always going to be a slower starter than some of the field because he was just so massive, Gay, Blake and Co just had that natural edge over him out of the blocks. 

 

But he never looked slow, he just had a very different gait. 

 

Richardson reacts slowly and then sort of struggles up to speed. ****ing fast when she gets there though. Bolt had obviously reasons, Richardson it just seems like technique.

Absolutely a technique issue, definitely not a fluid runner. If she could tidy up her start, and work on the first portion of her race she would be better than she is, like you say her back end is phenomenal, she almost goes from 2nd to top gear mid race.

You know I was kind of expecting them to go out. We barely made it through our games so didn't seem like it was going to be a golden year. I did think we were going to make the semis but given everything that has gone on this was a great run and proud of them. Now to sort out the tw@t coaches!

 

Summer McIntosh is freaking amazing machine! That's her 4th of the games as she got a silver too. What a freaking champ so proud of her!
