Jordan Ayew (interest confirmed by Percy)

You really think he's on less than £30k a week at Crystal Palace? Not a chance. They pay very well and he's been there a good while so he'll have received a few pay rises.

There's nothing to suggest he's on anything more.

He signed a new deal in 2023 and by all accounts took a wage cut in exchange for an additional 2 years.

He won't be coming here to be a squad player, that's what fans sticking up for this deal need to understand.

Maybe you should put yourself forward for Rudders job as your 'opinion'  is always so right !

Slightly odd move if true. I'm fairly sure that Cooper let him go out on loan to Palace when he was manager at Swansea. Could be wrong though

Cooper became Swansea manager in the summer of 2019. Ayew had spent the previous season on loan at Palace.

But he still sold Ayew to Palace when he took over Swansea in the summer 2019. So he's never really managed him before for more than a couple of days...

Yeah but after that successful loan it was probably just accepted that he wouldn't keep him in the Championship as opposed to Cooper not wanting him.

Don't think anyone is claiming we are signing Ayew because he has played for Cooper before.

This will be an agent recomendation because John Morris knows how easy it is to play us.

True. He probably has the same agent as his brother who Cooper signed at Forest and was awful for them

However, I would still take Ayew as provides more depth in our squad and can cover a number of positions. We also don't have anyone who can play in the CF position (upfront who can drop off to link and play with their back to goal). But we absolutely still need to also sign a quality striker this window to have a chance.

Normally I'm pretty stoic about the club despite all my moaning but this is thoroughly dispiriting. You'd think we might learn - sometimes - but no, we don't.

The whole Maresca stuff has meant Morris is less on side now.

If you want an indication of how petty the club are - Brad the PA announcer has been dropped by the club after his interview with Vardy. He's got no indication of whether its permanent or not yet.

I was wondering what I was hearing on the TV on monday lol mental!

Think is we've got Ayew and linked to Sergeant... he might be less on side but doesn't exactly seem like he's going away.

I guess his links to Vardy mean he'll be around for at least another season even if not on the best terms.

I just hate it mate... we either deal with them or CAA... no creative thinking anymore, just get into bed with whoever can get a deal over the line quickly.

Can't wait to see agents fee's published this year lol

The culture sounds absolutely rancid at the club. Paranoid and delusional

Wait wasn't it the same guy as usual on Monday?

Signing Ayew, Bobby Reid, Skipp etc.

The signings of Winks and Coady last summer.

The flops of Souttar and Tete.

Rudkin deserves all the pelters he gets but it really does now beg the question, what exactly does Glover bring to the table ? Okoli, Fatawu and Mavididi aside, he seems to bring to the table established PL players which surely anyone can do,

This is giving me peak Micky Adam’s vibes and we ended up in a right old mess from a similar recruitment policy.

Let’s look at this logically. We have signed:

a young centre back

A young midfielder

another fairly young midfielder at 23.

a young winger

loaned a younger midfielder

experienced winger

potentially an experienced striker.

its not quite Adams dads army.

We don't really know but the implication seems to be PL experience is Cooper's preference.   We have definitely been linked with good, young and exciting players from abroad, presumably identified by Glover and his team. For whatever reason we haven't got those signings over the line.

Don't think that is on Glover.

It's not proper competition though because Reid doesnt have a serious claim to the spot outside of the Prem proven tag. Mavididi is clearly the better player and should be starting on merit.

I would understand if we had brought in a good player to compete for the spot but Reid was our worst performer by a margin on Monday. Unless Reid improves significantly from pre season and the Spurs game then even if Mavididi is hungrier in the 10 minutes he comes on/the occasional start we are still worse off as a team because we have to put up with Reid who is worse than a less hungry Mavididi.

You may be right of course but there is a bit of confirmation bias at play here after only 1 competitive game, in assuming that a player who has pretty much zero Premier League experience is somehow going to be definitely better than a player who has already been proven to be a decent, if unspectacular Premier League performer.

Maybe we give it a few games before we make such definitive statements and hope that both players become key and integral elements of our squad, as we will certainly need this over such a long and arduous season.

Hard to say on Glover vs the manager really.

Fattawu, Mavidi and Hermansen are good spots but there's a real divergence in strategy elsewhere.

I'm not sure this is fair.

We appear to have scouted and had considerable interest in Ramon Sosa, Mathias Soulé, Richard Rios, Fotis Ioannidis, Adam Hlozek, Mandela Keita, Florentino Luis et all.

Not to mention Abdul Fatawu, Stephy Mavididi and Mads Hermansen.

It's not on Glover if either Rudkin can't do a deal or we suddenly get a new manager that doesn't want all the players he's been working on for a year because we don't have a director of football and the club are letting the head coaches have far too much of a say on the development of the squad.
