Elye Wahi

Recommended Posts

If Elye Wahi (21 years old, under contract until 2028) will have to leave RC Lens before the end of the transfer window, it is written that the Premier League will be very well placed. There are now three clubs to negotiate to bring the attacker. We knew that Chelsea had positioned itself, it was now West Ham and Leicester who began the steps to secure the signing of the international hope. The outlines of a first offer addressed to Lens must be defined in the coming hours.

Translation of the l’equipe article.

We've signed a work horse Premier League winger on a free signing, we're approaching a Japanese international suspected of being too weak for the Premier League and next up is a known beater of women.

The penny's just dropped, Rudkin really has remembered the winning formula.

Its funny cos its true

Those extreme points deduction rumours are all starting to make sense.

Almost as if the club is just trying to get enough players to make it through the season and quality isn’t important.

Finners has already referenced his past issues so no need to go into the details of that.

In terms of the football side of things, I can’t say I’m surprised that Lens are willing to let him leave. They signed him last summer for a big fee to replace Lois Openda, he came with big expectations after looking like one of the best striker talents in Ligue 1 while at Montpellier, but throughout last season he failed to live up to expectations. He had many games last season where Lens fans were really disgruntled with his performances, his finishing especially at times was abysmal.

He is also the type of striker I wouldn’t really associate with holding the ball up and linking play. He is more of a poacher who relies on quick movement in the box and running in behind.

Maybe his price tag at Lens weighed on him too heavily, with pressure affecting his performances. At Montpellier his finishing was arguably one of his strongest assets, while at Lens his finishing at times was very snatchy and became a weak point.

If we really are interested, we should be in the driving seat for this - we're playing Lens soon. I wonder if the match is tied up with the transfer.

That and the Mavididi connection could be significant. The big question is, IF we are interested.

Yeah we're going to do some hard negotiating after the match.

JR: Will you accept a tenner?

Lens: No?

JR: But that's all we've got.

Lens: Oh.

*awkward silence.*
