I agree with a lot of what you say but preaching about engagement and then comments like this when the club do at least try and engage don't seem fair to me.

 

I can't really knock stuff like this tbh.

New women's manager very impressive

Cooper was desperate to get this job, couldn't stand being out of work. His family remains in Wales

Also desperate to ingratiate himself to the fans, he asked for the Q&A to be held and would have preferred open floor rather than preselected questions

A few references to his Forest history being the elephant in the room without naming them

Talked about not wanting to stifle Fatawu. I'm still not entirely clear what his tactical vision is

A little bit about youth development, name dropped Alves/Nelson. Impression I got was that opportunities may be given to the kids, but much less in the PL than they would have been in the Championship

Vardy very much a dressing room leader, lots of motivational talk in a long team meeting after open training session

Stayed for pics with loads of fans afterwards

I used to hate running those events TBH, not a lot the club can give away in them and lots is pre-planned, I do get people enjoy them for sure

I will offer more analysis in the morning but Cooper is so keen to be accepted by the supporters. He also was happy to criticise the club(organisation in Germany and other issues).

I like him.

Nice to hear some positivity from those who attended. I like Copper too, seems a thoroughly decent bloke. I really hope it works out for him here, but he’s really up against it as it stands through no fault of his own.

I did think this during the event. He did say he took time to understand the culture and what the club means to the fans so wouldn’t surprise me if he’s had a browse on here

Enjoyed the event. 
 

Miquel spoke well enjoyed her time in the seat and Cooper was sensational. He had the room in his hand and spoke extremely well. Some good one liners now and again and also at the end I thought he wanted to do a couple open floor questions but clearly they’ve been told strictly no, and then he offered pics which was good to see

He very directly addressed criticism that’s been prominent recently.

 

Name checked Alves and suggested he’ll get a chance but needs to take it.

 

Mentioned not attacking in friendlies.

 

Mentioned negative football at Forest.

 

Mentioned him not being universally welcomed by fans.

 

There was more, and some more specific that I can’t remember at the minute but either directly or indirectly, I’m convinced he reads this place.

Sounds very positive from comments I've seen! 

 

Maybe we, collectively as a fanbase, just need to get behind him and see what he can deliver under challenging circumstances. 

 

His desire to breed positivity within the club is welcome. Can clearly recognise he has a passion to succeed here, whatever his past has been. 

 

And also judging from comments I like that he's willing to challenge some things the club do and stamp his authority in a respectful way.

I think you’d be absolutely crazy not to before an event like this. I wish before going into any work meeting where I was going to be questioned, I could find an internet place where I could gauge the thoughts and feelings of those doing the questioning.

I hope he does! If you want to connect with fans, why not spend 20 minutes each morning taking a look at what the fans think, or at the least get someone to do it for you. Getting the fans onside is a huge part of the job. I don't think any Leicester fans even except the team to win trophies, just represent the fans and area and try to be competitive.

 

His words sound great, and a big strength that has been associated with Cooper is that he does try to connect with the local fanbase, which is why the Forest fans got behind him for so long. Who was the last one that really did that for us? Ranieri maybe? I'd probably say it was Pearson, despite the former's success.

 

Strong home form is what we will need to survive you would think.

Sums up our dinosaur fanbase to a tee, who seemingly don't understand that there's a lot more to football than mindlessly pumping the ball into the box at every opportunity.

Ccoper's reply to the same question was: We'll do what is needed to get the ball to an attacking player in a dangerous position, if that calls for 2 passes we'll do that, if it's not on and we need to move the players round, we might need to do 10 passes. So a bit more of an Enzo style answer.

 

I do think he is more inclined towards possession football, he made a point of saying that he wasn't able to play how he wanted to at Forest, and hopes he can show his preferred way of playing in the PL here. He mentioned something about Enzo's box midfield but doing it with different personnel, but didn't elaborate as 'didn't want to give too much away'. He would like us to 'keep ball' when possible but understands that will be hard in PL due to opposition. But then said "the most important thing is to find a way to win the football game", which went down well. Basically any comment by either manager which could be perceived as opposite of Enzoball was well received 

 

He mentioned that he wasn't happy with some of the stuff he saw in friendlies, we should have scored more goals, but feels he almost prefers to see things go badly in preseason so he knows what needs correcting. Says attacking opportunities will be rare in the PL, we need to make the most of them when we get them, and we need to strengthen upfront. I assume he means striker, as he then went on about Vardy looking very sharp before unfortunately being injured. Vardy is 'almost out on the grass now' which I assume means a couple weeks away still.

 

He also mentioned that he was given a tour of the stadium by Jim, and asked that it be pointed out to him where various groups sit and where noise comes from (obviously a reference to UFS).

 

Basically he said loads of the right things, and it came across as honest, but I do think he pre-prepared some answers for what he felt we wanted to hear (e.g. mentioning Fatawu's dress sense several times). I'm still not fully convinced about the on-pitch tactical stuff but will wait for a few actual games before forming an opinion either way.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he reads this place as he comes across so thorough in his approach. Thanks for the feedback from those that went, sounds positive.
