Lens away - Saturday

So why didnt we end pre season with a game at the KP like usual? Surely that would of been far more beneficial for the players then battered over in France

Being loudly booed at home after a battering would have been even worse for morale.

The club is leadership is insanely out of touch and don't care about fan engagement at all

I'm there now. No regrets. New ground. Not a bad away end, their fans quality. Novelty trip. I can't let football on the pitch dictate everything now. We're so amateurish at literally every level that my expectations have been eroded to a point I almost see the funny side.

2022/23 was harder to take because it was fresh. This is just us now. An amateurish, unserious club run by people who have no love or care for it. At least every loss is a black mark against them as well.

Jealous. If I’d known they would fill their unique looking ground I’d have thought about going, and tied in some Olympics

For those who thought Mendy is crap …

He is laughing at us

Sadly it’s a reminder of how we have fallen Mendy was a squad player but would walk into our current team - the depth of the squad when he was here and the talent we had in our relegation season just makes me more angry and frustrated with BR and his self promotion clap trap as that squad should never have gone down. This squad is 100% going down …….shows how poor the championship is and the gap is huge …..we will sadly do a Burnley or Sheffield u down with a whimper but ITFC will put up a fight……just wish we had the players and team spirit to do likewise…

Hopefully it’s not going to start with a 5-0 home defeat.
This looks like a dreadful season that’s going to be embarrassing and hard to take. And this is without a points deduction. I hope I’m wrong but I think we’ve given up already.

In this day and age of trying to save the planet and limiting the carbon footprint etc....why are we playing abroad? Why not play Lincoln like we did before title winning season?

Calm down mate, we’re playing in Germany and France, not Australia

IPFC have at least signed 5 players under 25. And we’ve signed a bunch of crap. They’ve given themselves a chance of staying up.
We are going down without a whimper, and make Sheffield United look like world beaters. The owners don’t seem to give a ****. I hope I’m proved wrong.

Fabulous stadium is Lens & their fans were terrific. What I witnessed this afternoon was one team full of pace, passion, commitment & skill

The other team were slow, disorganised, passionless & constantly arguing among themselves.

I doubt we will get 10 points all season, in fact I  can't see us scoring 10 goals

The thought of that starting 11 taking on Spurs is the stuff of nightmares

First year since we've been able to stream most of the friendlies that I've seen next to none of them.

Can somebody who isn't utterly hysterical give me a vaguely balanced assessment on how we've played?

Like an absolute disorganised rabble. I can't think of one decent bit of passing that we put together

Having said that I  did leave after 70minutes as  couldn't stand any more.

The performance & lack of ability would have been out of place in the Senior league

Been a good trip, once again as 90% of aways the football ruins the fun. Terrible organisation outside the ground though.

It took me back to the very bad old days of Ian Holloway’s LCFC. Tactically inept, no game plan, players playing out of position, better players benched, a lack of creativity. Tbf to Holloway I’d at least say he had more attacking intent than Cooper has shown in the last 3 games.

Its feels like were sending a damaged ship into a big sea battle, unstaffed crew, barely any weapons with without enough food and water on board. Like that ship, the morale all round must be low. To go from champions to then think we could face a few batterings here.

Was anyone else baffled by the way we were treated as away fans?

We arrived an hour before kick off, walked the whole way around the stadium but couldn’t find our entrance.  Asked several Lens fans who had no idea.  We met other Leicester fans doing the same thing, all confused.  Ended up back where we started , and found a load of other Leicester fans in a group, trying to speak to stewards and getting nowhere.  One woman was quite upset as she had young kids with her who were really hot and thirsty. It was mostly families.  No one was causing any trouble.

Then police arrived, we were surrounded by police with riot shields, and escorted as a huge group to the away entrance (which wasn’t signposted)..  There we were let in slowly through 4 turnstiles, which often didn’t work with the tickets.  By this time it was nearly kick off.  Some of the Leicester fans, who’d been chilled and placid before this madness, were starting to get a bit stroppy.

Finally everyone was in, but it was probably about 15 minutes into the game. There were no stewards at all, no one directing us to our seats, so it was a total free-for-all.  The netting around us was annoying, making the view even worse.

I’ve taken my teens to a few away games and a lot of pre season friendlies, and never experienced anything like it!  I don’t know why we couldn’t have just been directed to the entrance and made our own way there.

Not a rant. Just an observation. I should have put a calm demeanour type emoji. :) Not overly bothered really. Just seems a bit of a  waste of time when could've had a run out in the Midlands. Having said that, sounds like lots had a good trip so .
