Wilf Zaha - loaned to Lyon

Palace forum saying he's on 170k a week

So if we pay his wages that's around 9M a year.

No doubt that is expensive for a single season, but if that 9M keeps you up it's well worth the spend. I am so excited if this happens! Given the situation the club has been in, who could we realistically get that would significantly boost our chances of survival? Maybe, MAYBE Tammy Abraham if he was fully fit?

Zaha at Leicester makes me go from "no chance of staying up" to "hold on... this might be on!"

As Galatsaray are a publicly trading company they have to announce player contract details - Zaha’s from when he signed:

An agreement has been reached for the transfer of professional football player Dazet Wilfried Armel Zaha for 3 seasons. According to the agreement, the football player will be paid a net signing fee of 2,330,000 Euros and a net seasonal wage of 4,350,000 Euros for each football season.

Able to play down the middle as well as wide.

Was wondering if he could play down the middle.

could be that gala would be so keen to get his wages off the books for a season that they may not care for a loan fee.  So we could pay him 100k+/week and given that we aren’t paying anything else we could perhaps justify it in the books

S/o fee £2m over three years = 14k/week nett = approx 26k gross here

salary = £70k/week nett = approx 120k gross

so that’s around 146k/week from our budget to cover his wages (£7m/season)

we’d expect a player of his standing to weigh in at a salary of 80k and that means an effective loan fee of £3m. Doesn’t seem unreasonable

So £72k a week then.

4,350,000 / 52 = 83,653. Factor in the exchange rate = 71,535.

This is really complicated:

  • Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
  • The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
  • Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
  • A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

These rules were introduced by the Premier League ahead of the 2019/20 season. They have continued to change in recent years, with FIFA announcing in January 2022 that by July 2024, the number of players allowed to be loaned out and loaned in will be reduced from eight to six. During the 2023/24 season, clubs were allowed seven loan players in and seven loaned out.

It is worth noting that these restrictions don't apply to players under the age of 21 or "homegrown" talents, who are defined as players who have spent time at their current club or another in the same country for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21.

That last bit is quite important as it might mean that Buananotte doesn't count towards the limit. But I don't know how long he's been in England for.

Anyone one with the balls to give some s**t to Galatasaray fans is probably exactly what we need in a fight for survival
