As its a loan what personal terms warrent multiple rounds of talks with LCFC & player, he can't re-negotiate his wage we either pay his current wages or BL do so what else warrents days of discussion?

It’s a loan with an obligation to buy. Same as with Fatawu. This means all the details around the future transfer will need to be sorted now - his full time contract that would begin in July next year.

ok fair enough just assumed that would all be dealt with at the end of a season so neither side sell themselves short.

It can’t be with a deal like this because what if the player decides he doesn’t want any to join, or then prices the club out of a move in terms of salary etc? Likewise, the club could have changed their mind on the player and deliberately low ball so he doesn’t accept. That then leaves the selling club stuck with a player someone had agreed to buy. So it all gets agreed before hand. Obligation to buy means the permanent purchase goes through on completion of the loan and meeting of any criteria (survival in this case), it’s already agreed and set to go.

I k on now it’s sensible but I think it’s genuinely bad business to have the obligation connected to premier league survival.

Im so sure we’d make a profit on this guy… now he’s going to smash it and we aren’t going to be able to get him because we go down anyway. It’ll be a lookman situation all over again.  My only hope is that there is still an option if we want to pay it

Any news from Romano?  Thought this would have be done and dusted by now. Has Rudkin left his Bic at home??

Maybe he doesn't want to come if we don't stay up?

Then he'd flat out reject us anyway if the deal now was a permanent transfer rather than a loan? The only way players of this calibre and potential are going to come here is on a loan with purchase options should we stay up (which is good business if he does smash it because his goals could potentially be the difference and he's our player) or we pay them ridiculous wages and find ourselves in a deeper mess than we are already. How is any part of this deal "bad business"?

We can't afford him outright and still strengthen other areas, there's no guarantee that he's going to smash it, he's hardly set the world in fire and with that there's no guarantee we're going to make a profit on him. Daka was sure fire hit, as was Soumare, what makes this guy any different?

There's always an "option" on any player, if a club wants them, they have the "option" to bid for him.

If we go down and he's enjoyed his time here, if he's happy to play in the championship and if we can afford him, there's no reason why we can't still buy him at the end of the season.

Yeah it might be right, i’m not knocking the club for it. Just would personally prefer it to be permanent, as i see him being a valuable asset.

we could potentially just have a release clause in his contract if we go down. One that just makes us a little money and pays for a replacement in the championship

But we can’t afford to buy all the players we need mate. That’s why we are doing these types of deals. Its essentially transfer window Tetris.

And as mentioned, why would he want to commit to 5 years when it’s likely the second year and maybe more will be in the championship?

Also mentioned above is that we probably wouldn’t want the financial commitment of having him in the championship. We have struggled with loads of players on inflated wages without PL income, hopefully we have learned our lesson. He could be an absolute flop and nobody will want him, be able to pay his wages, or cover our outlay.

It takes us weeks to complete transfers. This’ll still be ongoing by Friday if it doesn’t fall through.

Fees agreed between clubs, it's now up to us to agree the deal with Hlozek.

But in what scenario are we spending the money? we obviously had something to spend as we significantly bid for soule… so we know we have a little kitty for one player.  if it’s not him and it’s not zaha…. then are we using it on someone else? or is all of this going on loan fees now.

Id be fuming if our budget goes on a left back.  I don’t think a newly promoted club spending 40m total  is that risky… it’s just not.  But to get back on the right path as a club we need to buy players, improve them and sell for profit, that’s our model. We are just bleeding assets this way and likely going on an embargo in the championship

Only we could balls this up now. We definitely don’t have time to be driving a hard bargain and losing out on the player over a few quid.

Perhaps he’s having second thoughts as it’s not a great career move to join a club that is a favourite for relegation. His value drops and so would his reputation. A professional footballer must put his career first, club second.

Didn't do Barnes, Madison or KDH any harm getting relegated with us. We are a proven stepping stone club for young players. They know if they come here and perform well, they're going to get a bigger move 12-24 months down the line

The Greek striker - bid of around 20m.

We are on an embargo in the championship regardless mate because of breaching and rubbing them up the wrong way last year. As soon as we go back there, they’ll have our Crown Jewels for earrings.

We don’t know the extent of the FFP stuff.

on the face of it 40m seems reasonable, but when you factor in that we had to sell our best player for below his value just to meet last years targets, 40m is a lot.

Surely we can't **** this up, the wages will only kick in once we know we stay up so offer him something half decent and he will sign. Low ball him and why should he.
