Adam Hložek - signed for Hoffenheim

What's the advantages and disadvantages? Agreeing to sell to us on a loan with obligation next summer if we stay up means if we don't go up but he has a very good season then they may benefit from a larger sale to another club as we can't legally enforce the purchase.

The downside to this deal for them vs Hoffenheim is they get a guaranteed £15-16m this summer, less the remaining amortised book value for Hozlek which is circa £8m. So they get a current year guaranteed profit of £8m. But perhaps they don't want to sell to another Bundesliga club and perhaps they get more from us in loan fee and potential future fee than what Hoffenheim pay now.

Percy said Leicester offered 27 million Euros for Fotis. So I just wonder if there is still another option. Of course we don't know what the player wants

Season predictions from neutral parties

Guardian 19th - https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/aug/12/premier-league-2024-25-preview-no-11-leicester-city

Business has been somewhat light, with the centre-back Caleb Okoli joining from Atalanta after last season’s loan with Frosinone and Bobby De Cordova-Reid arriving on a free from Fulham. The teenage midfielder Michael Golding has come from Chelsea and winger Abdul Fatawu made his loan from Sporting permanent but it has been quiet for a side who need to step up a level, although the financial issues explain that. The De Cordova-Reid signing is an indication of what Cooper wants because he likes having experienced Premier League players.

BBC 19th - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cdrlyg088r5o

Cooper and Leicester could defy the odds but it may well be a steep uphill struggle.

Telegraph - Relegated - https://archive.ph/cgH6V

It looks tough for Leicester, especially with the threat of a points deduction

Independent - Relegated - https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league-predictions-2024-25-preview-tips-b2596181.html

5 out of their 6 journalists have us down as relegated.

Alan Shearer - 20th - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13746109/Alan-Shearer-predictions-Man-United-Champions-League.html

Opta - 18th https://theanalyst.com/2024/08/premier-league-predictions-2024-25-opta-supercomputer/

Surprised it's not 6 out of 6.

Hoffenheim will offer a permanent deal rather than a loan w/ obligation - you got to think that’s more attractive for both Leverkusen and Hlozek

If has its positives - yes

If I was his agent I’d  be using it to push a better deal here in respect of the current season minimum

how that works may have to include leverkeusen which could complicate the deal a little

I have said my piece, so I will back off replying to the Norwegian Tourist fan

Still, good news about Opta thinking we'll be 18th and not bottom.

Claudio retired I think Rodgers is at Celtic, what's your point?

Claudio got sacked with us in the champions league r16 and having an away goal. Rodgers got sacked for underperforming. Shakespeare got sacked for underperformance.

If those managers can be dismissed despite being successful at the start then how has Rudkin kept a job despite underperforming bordering on negligence. Just because it’s gone right before doesn’t mean he should be untouchable.

He should have walked after the Silva 14 seconds debacle

There's plenty going on at the club that I am not happy with for instance:

- The season ticket card fiasco.

- the astronomical price increase for non season ticket holders.

- the lack of transparency over the ground move.

- the lack of transparency over anything really.

But in terms of signings I'm a little bit calmer than some of the more hysterical posters. Last summer's business was I think we can all agree was very good yet we didn't get fatawu, mav and akgun till after the season started.

It's not ideal but signing players takes time unless you are going to be weak and cave to the transfer fee and their salary and contract length demands which I'm sure no city fan would want us doing judging by the clubs current situation.

Also if you are going to have a meltdown for trivial reasons like another club has shown an interest in a player your after then you run the risk of it just sounding like whinging and when we do need to speak strongly in one voice like the season ticket card thing it loses it's effectiveness.

mav was in a week before the season started

Just to check, we're having a meltdown here because Romano has said Hoffenheim are trying to hijack the deal but we remain in prime position?

Yes. Considering previous form on here that seems an entirely appropriate reason to go into full meltdown

We are having a meltdown on this thread. On the zaha thread. On every other active thread on this part of the forum because we are two days from the start of the season and signed deco something ****ing Reid as our marquee signing.
