Wout Faes

Recommended Posts

Faes is a poor man's David Luis - if he played for Man City he'd look decent with the amount of possession they have, but would still cost them goals due to his over confidence, lack of concentration and the occasional brain fart.

So does Maguire but most people loved him and he fetched 90m

It could move also for Wout Faes!

Not happy with his current situation, Wout Faes had a talk with #LCFC leaders.

Player’s didn’t want to play on the left side of the defense & surprised with the lack of new recruitments in the team...

Faes now looking for a solution on a likely departure before the end of the window…

Wait&See…

Surely an easy fix for this would’ve been for Cooper to be more flexible and allow Faes to continue to play in the position that he did successfully last season, with Vesty on the left hand side. Cooper has created some of these issues because of his stubborn approach. This has annoyed Faes. Ricardo, Mavididi, Cannon and the fans and hasn’t helped us on the pitch. The recruitment has been poor too but the playing side is Cooper’s fault.

Maguire was a much more reliable defender here than Faes tbh.

Before his confidence got shattered he was a very good, Europa League, top 8 kinda centre back. He just flew too close to the sun and got caught up in the toxic United mess.

At Man United he has had many brain farts, yes he was good here but not that good, similar level as Faes.

We wouldn't be able to because of both Kristiansen and Vestergaard

When Kristiansen pushes on down the left, JJ tucks in to form a back 3

If we had Vestergaard on the left, for it to work we would need Kristiansen to tuck and JJ to push up (and we know Kristiansen doesn't want to do that) or we would end up with Vestergaard on the left of a back 3 which we can't let happen

Obviously if he just changed the tactic it wouldn't be an issue anymore but it doubt that will happen...

Here is Wout Faes recieving the ball under pressure in a Premier League game:

As an experienced Belgian international, who has practiced playing out from the back all last season, we can expect a smart decision or piece of skill here.

  • Lay it off first time to Vestergaard?
  • Accelerate past Traore who is trying to press him?
  • Dink a beautiful lofted pass over Iwobi to Justin?
  • Pass between the lines to find Winks to help us build up?

Nope, go for a blind back heel to a team mate resulting in Fulham robbing the ball and almost scoring.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Wout Faes.

Need some clips of how far he went forward when we conceded the first goal as well, caused chaos at the back for everyone else

Do we have one of his goal as well

Personally I don't think Faes is all that. Poor decision making and positioning.

He does look better than Okoli from what we saw in preseason though, I give you that.

Terrible defending from Justin that is, he had no awareness that there might be a player coming down his side and was caught ball watching

Would be in the correct position and not having to decide whether to cover the middle or the right if Faes hadn't gone for a wander

Arsenal still haven't found anyone to take Kiwior off their hands yet. Apparently want €15-20mill .  Left footer, played LB as well as CB. They don't want to loan him, but worth asking.  Or lowballing.  That's if we don't go with what we've got.

Let's be honest, Faes is going nowhere.

Has anyone even but a bid for him?

Yep mentioned this in the analysis thread, JJ was poor for both goals. But look at where Faes is, he's not covering himself in glory either.

Not ideal situation at this stage and the circumstances rings some alarm bells as to whether the club is a happy ship.

My bigger concern is our ability to bring in a suitable replacement, given Coopers current desire for proven premier league experience I wouldn’t be shocked or surprised if we signed Steve Cook 😩

1 rare goal from him wont make up for the regular mistakes he makes

With defending, the mistakes are far more obvious than the successes, so I am not sure how useful pointing out individual mistakes are without a way to acknowledge good play tbh.

Yea but that area of the pitch was covered Justin has been caught chasing the ball and exposed the right side exactly like he did for the second

No. There's been plenty of loan requests which Arsenal have flat out denied because they want a straight sale.

Bologna are the latest to try their hand.  Remains to be seen if Arsenal are trying to play hardball and will cave or if they'll stick to their guns on that one.

Or did you mean Faes? lol In which case, no, nobody has!

Personally think Justin is a little unlucky in that goal. He's massively let down by both centre backs and slightly by Fatawu too.

He steps up a tad which is an awful decision when he should have massively backed off and waited for support, but one player out of position causes panic. When both centre backs are ridiculously out of position, you can't be too surprised when the one remaining defensive body makes a mistake with his decision making.

Thanks for that, I’m now utterly pissed off at the first giphy
