Like others have said, it’s a sad state of affairs, when our best defender is linked away, that the reaction is ‘meh’. 
 

But that’s where we are. If he goes he goes, but we must have a BETTER replacement.

 

If we could get £20m for him (and I really don’t think that’s unrealistic, we just need better salesmen) then, spend 3/4 of that, to get someone better in.

I think it's extremely obvious he shouldn't have blindly back-heeled it to an opponent but look at what Fulham have done.

 

 

Every, single option you've suggested plays the ball through that square. 

 

Maybe have a look at that and think about a few more options for him, hmm? Cos pretty much all of yours are actually worse than back-heeling it to VK.

 

It was a good press and Hermansen never should have played it to him in the first place. He was ****ed from the outset. His best choices were probably either turn towards the corner, shield it and hope to mitigate and wait for the defence to take up shape or to just yeet it up the pitch and go long.

 

Playing in to that box is suicide.

He was an absolute liability last time we got relegated from the premier league, Ward rightfully got a lot of the blame but Faes Amartey partnership was costing us time and time again, with Amartey taking nearly all of the blame despite Faes having multiple brain farts a game.

The problem is that JJ is put in a difficult situation in the first place. He has to make a decision and he makes the wrong one. He’s doesn’t have to make that decision if others don’t leave him exposed.

Except he's stated he wants out and that's without having a suitor.

What you want to get for him is irrelevant.  He's not a wanted man. Skipp was wanted. If only by us.  "We've got this guy nobody wants, he wants out, so we're putting him on the market for a bargain £35mill" spoken to an empty room that'll remain empty. 

It'd be great if we could overprice all of our players that nobody wants but it doesn't really work does it?

A great player in his day, but surely too old to be paired with Veste or Coady.

 

Wouldn't be against us going in for Alfie Jones (Hull) or Dael Fry (Boro). Both mid 20s and could offer some solidity and physicality at the back, and much cheaper than what we'd sell Faes for.

Only us wanted Skipp so we negotiated ourselves a £25million bargain, brilliant. There will be interest in Faes, even if no concrete offers were mentioned previously. If anything there may already be interest and this is his way of pushing for the move. Not buying into selling on the cheap in this instance.
