Marc Albrighton Retires From Football

Recommended Posts

What a wonderful player. Will always be one of my favourites, not just for the obvious stuff but because he seemed to be such an excellent human being.

I wonder if one of the reasons that he's giving up the game relatively early is his home situation; I think he split with his Mrs a while back (she's not mentioned in any of his goodbye posts) and he seems incredibly committed to his daughters.  Just reinforcing again what a smashing bloke he is.

I'd love the club to give him a job doing something down the line. Specialist crossing coach sounds good to me...

I think Albrighton is one of the most relatable football players, always humble and grateful for his career. His successes with us are so deserved, it’s a shame he never got capped by England at his best he was so dependable.

i look forward to seeing what he does next. 👏🏻

He comes across so well whenever he's been on Talk sport, so I wonder if he'll go into the media sod EOF football. I can't see him as a manager, maybe a coach, but my money is on media work as he can spend time with his family and pick and choose what he does.

Hi all,

I am desperate to get a match worn shirt signed by him. I've not been able to sort dog walkers for the match tomorrow so I'm having to sell my ticket back to the club but.....I see he's on the matchday live. Is that at the stadium? If so, I can bring the dogs and try to get that elusive signature!

Does anyone have any info about the matchday live programme? Where it's filmed, timings for guests etc. It's so frustrating the number of times I've gone to a match with that shirt in my bag and not been able to stay long enough afterwards.

If I can't make it tomorrow then I'm tempted to send it to his academy and try my luck - he's my all time favourite LCFC player, I love the guy.

Thanks all,

Siobhan

Actually - if anyone wants to sort that signature, they're welcome to the free ticket!

Proper legend. We seemed to play our best stuff, when he was in the team.

I will never forget how he and Huth helped transform the team into the great escape.

All the best Kevin.

On the Under The Cosh pod. Will be very interesting to see what he says now he's officially announced retirement. Felt at some points he was protecting himself in recent pods despite still being very insightful!

The comments on the training ground were eye-opening on either the No Tippy Tappy pod or Ben Foster's, can't remember.

He talks about the frustration at fans discontent regarding the season we finished 8th because we also got to the ECL semi-final and the league position was the 4th best ever for us but then goes on to say the disaster was the season after... Surely he understands the fan's could sniff a real collapse from a mile off!

He didn’t really say much on any of the big issues but still a good watch/listen.

I can see why he wouldn’t criticise people, I think the bits he didn’t say about Rudkin and Whelan were more telling that what he did say.

Yeah I don't expect him to dig out Rudkin or Whelan based on the fact I'm sure they are partially responsible for the money he earnt being employed by the club, probably no need for a bashing session. But they definitely are aware of the discontent when you think about Vardz goading the fans over Rudkin during trophy celebrations too!

Criticising the hierarchy also wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do if you had any aspirations of returning later down the road, commentary, coaching etc.
