I'm fairly happy with this. 

 

He wasn't good at Celtic, he was phenomenal and his record with France u21's is nothing short of spectacular. Granted, both those levels are significantly below the PL and yes, it's not really worked out at Palace but there's a player there and if there is a chance that a new manager, new club and new start can get that out of him. It's worth taking. He also offers something different from our current strikers.

 

I would certainly prefer him over the other potential signings we could have realistically made today.

I remember we were scouting both Daka and Edouard around the same time. For whatever reason we opted for Daka at the time - looking at records pre-signing etc. you’d have expected both to have done better than they have. 
 

Sometimes moves don’t work, however, just like Daka, he has a lot of obvious qualities - let’s hope we can get it out of him.

Yes - I understand the signing - and I'd definitely rather have this deal than one where we pay £25-30M for Nketiah. 

 

But my expectations of him remain fairly low

I would rather have daka as first choice striker than pay 30 million for Eddie

No. It's more like saying I'd rather eat one dog shit than 25 million dog shits and the risk that I'd be stuck for a few years on the same diet
