LCFC 1-1 Everton - Post Match Thread

Has anyone talked about the fact that there was a delay to the second half (albeit a rather small one) but not a word from anyone in the stadium. Not on the screen or an announcement. A bit poor that

Popped in to see my parents on the way home after the game and my Dad says "It must have been pretty bad weather for the game to be delayed!"

I said "It wasn't Dad, you must be mistaken or got us confused with another game"

Then I find out on the match reports later that the second half was delayed by seven minutes.

I didn't have a clue in the stadium

All this Doom and Gloom. Don't get me wrong I'm not Happy But:

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes, we don't know fitness levels and we don't know what SC is having to deal with on & off the pitch.

As I see it we haven't taken a hammering, so I'm going to support the Team & SC until the inevitable happens.

Ps: It must be hard to know that the Fans don't want you and you're playing with a poor hand of cards.

Bring on Arsenal

Yet it was ‘Breaking News’ on the BBC and Sky websites.  I didn’t notice tbh, the length of the HT interval seems so random these days anyway.

The Mavididi- Fatawu substitution made no sense on any level. It was too late to make a difference, Fatawu on the wrong side, taking off our best player at a crucial stage and leaving Ayew on who wasn't really involved.

I don't agree with booing substitutions but totally understood the annoyance with it.

How can you not spell my name right when it’s right there? lol

Faes is out of position. Correct. But the goal has still come from Justin’s side. Ignore everything else i said though!

you’re saying it was Justin’s fault and I proved  it wasn’t.

With regards to the spelling- I’m dyslexic - it looked right to me lol

Nonsense. We’re not a traditional newly promoted side. We’re a club that was well established in the Premier League, had a bad season, and bounced back up. Throughout the squad there are players with significant PL experience, we had a back room team and setup that was premier league standard, world leading training facilities and 32,000 seat modern stadium.

We have to stop this rubbish about being ‘newly promoted’. It’s not like Brian Little getting us up in the 90s; we’re an established PL club that was consistently challenging for Europe just a couple of years ago.

Cooper is completely out of his depth and will lead us straight back down.

Excellent post from start to finish, summed up well we really should be aiming our sites higher, and not accept the crap excuses that's currently doing the rounds.

It was very noticeable that we booed Mavadidi being taken off but cheered Fatawu running on.  Hopefully that was clear to the players and Mav didn’t think he was being booed.

The game yesterday really was a sh*t show of a performance.

Both full backs were abysmal. Truly horrendous! Kristiansen looks a mile off PL level, and Justin was constantly getting caught on the wrong side of his man. Ricardo must have done something really really bad to Cooper to not get any game time yesterday.

Likewise, Buonanotte must be wondering what the heck is going off. Criminal not to play him. He absolutely changed us the moment he came on. Pressing all over the park and dictating play. He's one hell of a talent who needs to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Some of his decision making today was bizarre. They had a 39 year old Ashley Young playing LB and he puts Jordan Ayew up against him. I guarantee Fatawu 1v1 against Young from the start tears him a new one.

I know N'didi had a decent game last time out, but he was awful. Couldn't pass, couldn't shoot, and a first touch which gifted Everton possession pretty much every time he received the ball. Skipp must be livid at getting no game time.

I'll not go in too hard on Bilal as he's work in progress, but he's got a lot of work to do based on that performance.

As for the subs, aside from Buonanotte the others came far too late and even then they replaced the wrong personnel.

Oddly given how it played out I was relatively relieved we didn't lose as we can't be losing points to rivals even at this stage.

I want Cooper to succeed. He comes across as a decent bloke and it's refreshing to have a manager who doesn't have an arrogant attitude. However, he needs to reflect on his approach so far and recognise that if doesn't change things fast he'll be looking for another job.

lol here we go, surely the Tottenham nostalgia has worn of by now ?

I really doubt people's reading skills. I quote "I do wonder where our points are going to come from" we'd literally just got a point, and one in the previous game.

Ah, that's fine then, should be more than sufficient to keep us up.

If we can get a point at home to Ipswich & Southampton too then we'll be challenging for Europe.

None of that has anything to do with what you said, we'd just got a point, and we'd got a point the previous week. Perhaps if you meant wins you'd like to rephrase.

Blimey, that's two of you then, you and Cooper!

It was his fault. It’s come down his side he’s tracked his man (rightly so) but let him waltz by 🤷🏻‍♂️

What was the reaction from the rest of the stadium when Mavididi was taken off?

It was very loud booing in SK1 but I couldn't tell whether it was just SK1 being its usual vocal self or the sentiments were shared across the ground

his man pulled inside and into the gap vacated by  faes. There’s only so far you’re supposed to track someone.  We employ zonal marking not man to man..

( there was also a second and third person out wide down his side)

if anyone  should have been covering for  Faes it should have been Winks dropping in… and I noticed Winks let him skip past him yet he gets a free ride on all this..

Doesn't matter who plays against Arsenal on the season's evidence so far we will be lucky to get out of our own half. They will be far and away the best team we've played so far and we'll be lucky to escape a complete hammering.

Nothing like stating the obvious.  Position in the table alone makes them the best team we have played this season.

We both know what I meant so I'm not going to engage in an argument.

You'll have to look elsewhere for one.
