What do we think of conquisto in the 4.00 at Ascot.

8s looks generous in Tempwan's way of thinking.

Higher class than its used to but placed/won in each of 6 last runs. Must be ew value, non?

Hope some of you took note. 3rd place gives a nice return and this could be one to watch.

Jordan whats the laws as far as gambling goes in new york?, gambling is so different in the US with a lot of restrictions and I rarely spoke to anyone who bet, but in the UK everyone seems to have a bet and there are at least 1 bookie on every high street, online betting obviously has changed a lot in the USA but it still seems much more popular over here than the US.

Gambling in the UK is a different world compared to the US.

Outside of Nevada, with few exceptions, sports betting is either illegal or unauthorized. People sti gamble here, just not as much, more often online, and usually not as openly unless discussing bets with friends.

In NY, outside of American Indian casinos, legal gambling is pretty much restricted to lottery, horse racing (at tracks), and casinos attached to racetracks ("racinos"). I don't think there are any specific laws banning other gambling in NY but I know our state's gaming commission is not authorized to run a sports book, and I'm pretty sure it's against federal law to operate a sports book unless you're in Nevada et al.

So, there are no betting shops anywhere to be found here--quite a contrast with the UK.

There used to be Off-Track Betting shops in the NYC areas, but the OTBs closed down a few years ago.

New Jersey has aggressively tried to implement sports betting, at least in Atlantic City, but they have been blocked by the federal courts from doing so.

There is online betting, of course, but I haven't really kept up to date with which sites aren't huge pains in the ass for Americans to either deposit into or withdraw from their accounts. I dont gamble enough for that to be worth my while. Churchill Downs in Kentucky, the Mecca of horse racing in the US, operates a very good horse betting site called twinspires.com, which I have used, and which accepts deposits from New Yorkers with no fuss.

As time goes by, gambling, like other "vices," will face fewer legal prohibitions. Despite prohibitions, gambling is still a big money business, and several states could really use the tax revenue gambling would provide.

The first time I had ever placed a bet in a betting shop was in England in 2008. Later on my trip, I placed a bet at Filbert Way inside the ground.

I wasn't shocked or anything--I was obviously aware of how things work with gambling in the UK--but the whole thing was hilarious to me when considering how the owners of the major sports leagues and the NCAA executives' heads would explode if there were gambling actually inside stadiums and arenas. Those leagues go to such great lengths to disassociate their sports with gambling, and those caught gambling or conspiring to fix games face either blacklisting or even prison sentences.

While the leagues go through great lengths to make sure gambling doesn't infiltrate the games, they seem to be fine with it provided it's kept as far away from the arenas as possible. All the major sports news websites publish the lines. It is common for fans to mention that "Team X is giving 3.5 to Team Y" when discussing games. An unwritten but perhaps the biggest reason why the NFL publishes detailed injury reports for each team--updated daily--is for gambling. The leagues are uncomfortable with gambling affecting the integrity of games but they are more than happy to have gambling increase interest among fans and make more money from the effects of that.

I put my bets in through an acquaintance that has a connection with a bookmaker who I do not know, but the less I know, the better.

Shitty goalie with a .865 save percentage this season somehow stops 40 of 41 shots to kill my bet. Sigh. Ottawa did everything besides win the game.

Skybet is telling me I have 'not met net deposits' requirements and won't let me withdraw my funds, anyone know a way around this, or what it means?

Sounds as if you took up one of their offers that required a minimum deposit to qualify and presumably you did not pay in enough

No, I deposited with this card to place my bets.

Saw this on Skybet, not sure if it helps.

"Say you have one card and one e-wallet registered and have deposited £10 from Card A and £20 from E-Wallet B. This gives you a Net Deposit of £10 on Card A and £20 on E-Wallet B.

You then place all that money on a bet and win £100. This means you will need to withdraw £10 to Card A and £20 to E-Wallet B before you can withdraw the remaining £70."

Yes, United to win is about 6/4 on the exchanges. They've won 63 of their last 72 home league games. City aren't as good as they think, or as they were last year. United haven't conceded a goal in the league since January and have W16 D2 L0 since early November or something. Can't see why they aren't odds on, nor why they won't win. Just my opinion though.

£25 profit from a few horses today, all on United/Roma hopefully returns £117.
