Unless im missing something, then if you look at the odds for the championship title winners, there is pretty much a no lose bet that can be placed if your willing to outlay a fair bit to make it worthwhile.  On various betting sites, you can get these odds on title winners

Leicester 1/6

Burnley 17/1

Derby 16/1

Now assuming that QPR cannot realistically win it from here as it would require a monumental collapse from all sides above them to overtake the lot, its not difficult to look at those odds and realise that the worst that could happen if Leicester DID win the league was that you would break even. For example

2 quid on Burnley - If they win - Returns £36

2 quid on Derby - if they win - Returns £34

24 quid on Leicester - if they win - Returns £28

Total £28 outlay, of which if Leicester win the league, you are all square.  But if Burnley or Derby do, then your in (admittedly small) profit.

I know we are only talking about getting your stake back plus maybe 20% at best, but for anyone with a wedge of cash lying about, its not a bad punt!

Surely then in that case you just don't bet Leicester and risk losing the £4 for a bigger profit. At the end of the day, what's £4 if it means we win the league?

True, but my theory was is that if you wanted to make a bigger return on the off chance of Derby or Burnley winning it, then you'd maybe want to cover it.  Losing £4 is no big deal agreed, but if someone was to put more on, then it does start to make a difference I guess.

Put the winnings on Charlton.

I was tempted! Withdrew the £10 and put 50p on this which all kicks off tonight:

Nueva Chicago

Colo Colo

Audax Sao Paulo

Ituano

returns £5.15. If it wins then I'll bung that on maybe a double/treble

So, you won a bet but clearly no lessons were learned judging by that shambles.
