Got me thinking, what's everyone's biggest bets? Obviously don't have to say if you don't want, just thought it'd be interesting to see if anyone's ever been so confident or so not arsed they've gone and thrown 500 quid on a horse or 3 grand on vardy to score first etc.

Mine was 50 quid on a Reading and Wolves double early last season @ 3/1 which won. Never been so happy. Then threw another 50 quid on the same two teams from the winnings the week later and reading conceded an equaliser in injury time. Never been so sad. So went back to tens and fives, was a fun experiment anyway but makes the whole gambling thing a lot less enjoyable when you've got big amounts riding on it!

Easy when you have nearly 20 grand in the bank though

Yeah that's the reward for the risk though, even if I had 20 grand in the bank I would still be hesitant to throw a grand on, it's not a huge amount but you can do so much with it!

The most I've put on was £50 on Balthazar King at Cheltenham this year, won at 3/1, that horse has has been good to me but I won't bet that big again it's more the fun factor than making big money for me

I did a £500 treble, after winning £1500. Got 1/3 right...red cards galore.

£10k challenge blew up in my face, got a tenner up to £450. Malmo needed a draw to win their league, vs a team who had been relegated. Finished a draw.

I went through a phase of betting ridiculous sums on bets that were hugely odds on, like i remember putting £1000 on New Zealand in an ODI vs England when it was 99.9% certain that they wouldnt get the runs.......just to win £10.

Thankfully that bet won, but that was in the disposable income days and that was the best use of money, which was stupid. I needed a reality check and i got it, when i built a casino free play pot from £50 to £900 but naively in those days didnt understand things like play through rules and such, and ended up giving away everything i had won which was crazy.

The worst bet i have ever seen lost though wasnt me, it was one of my dads friends. Cant remember the exact sum, but put an absurd amount on Australia to beat India in a test in India probably around the time of 2000/2001. Australia made India follow on, only for India to amass a total of nearly 700 in the second innings with Dravid and Laxman putting on nearly 400 between them, and then shelling the Aussies out way short of the target, with a huge batting collapse. Following on and winning just doesnt happen.

My biggest bet is £50 and everytime I've bet that amount, I have won. I have usually done this as part of a free bets thing - or when carried away with cash money at a race-track.

My standard is £5 on the nose or £2.50 each way. £10 on the nose or £5e/w for a strong fancy.

On real genuine info, I could go to £50. Today I've gone at £30 across various bookies, on the nose at odds of around 5s.

Only ever bet what you can afford to lose!

I know that Lamby 18-fold looks ridiculous, but to be fair if there's ever a time to have a real stab like that it's this weekend.

I mean, how often do you see any complete shocks in the qualifiers? He's pretty much only backed the favourites so he'll get a lot of them come in. Eighteen is a touch greedy, but putting on a ten or twelve-fold on for some of these games is definitely worth a quid.

Give us a nod TPH please. Be interesting to watch even if I don't back it.

The 3.15 would be Epsom hill e/w. Expected to outrun its odds. I'd taken a look at this field and think there are a few dangers though so I'm leaving it alone I think. I'm just going to be an interested observer. Take a look and see what you think.

Totally missed this reply after asking for it! lol

It finished 2nd so wouldn't have been a bad e/w @ 13/2, I'd already picked Quest For More in a L15, that did FA.

I went through a mad phase with live roulette a couple of years ago... my stupidest moment was lumping £5k from my credit card on the middle dozen.... it won!! Withdrew £13k and lost the rest gradually over the next day or so. Hills wouldn't pay out immediately, the withdrawal was sent for a 'security check', eventually got it after 3 weeks, Hills even gave me £50 credit in my account as an apology lol . All my accounts now have deposit limits and have cut up all my credit cards. Stupid thing but got very lucky, wouldn't advise others to do the same.

I normally have a £50 budget for a weekends betting, covers a couple of 50p e/w L15's and a few other small bets.

Always have a big bet for international qualifiers. Had a tenner on...

HUNGARY v northern ireland (I regret this already, first game of the eleven and Hungary are actually quite shit)

faroe islands v FINLAND

GERMANY v scotland

gibraltar v POLAND

PORTUGAL v albania

RUSSIA v liechtenstein

luxembourg v BELARUS (Another slightly dodgy one but I don't think Belarus are that bad)

san marino v LITHUANIA

SPAIN v fyr macedonia

BOSNIA v cyprus

CROATIA v malta

Would return around £66.
