Just saw this, crazy really considering nothing ever is a banker in betting really, should do the job but a bold move on their part

Bookies do this quite a lot, it's always on something with limited exposure on their part, that they think can get more money in advertising than they're paying out. Every major paper will mention it, forums will mention it, online websites will mention it, Paddy Power do it quite often and they're not stopping so it must work.

yeah but it's usually on things like a team winning a league when they're 15 points clear and 1/50 on, or a golfer when he's 6 shots clear with three holes to play etc. not a horse @ 2/5 in a race that hasn't started. don't think i've ever seen it done on a horse before, he's an exceptional horse but he's been beaten before, odds on shots get turned over every day. it's a big race too, especially in ireland, where paddy is based, i'm sure there'll be a few decent bets on.

Paddy Power have done it on horses a lot over the years. It's not about whether it wins or not, that doesn't really matter to the bookie who's doing it, it's about the exposure the act of doing it creates, it gets them in the papers etc and they don't have to pay for it. If they had 100k+ potential losses on this horse they wouldn't of done it. Chances are they have paid out a few grand, not many big hitters will go in big on a horse before it gets to the NRNB stage @ 1/2<.
