Let's have a films thread.

Blimey when did you start?

Well when the magazine with the Top 500 came out, Nov 2008-ish.

Went through the list and had seen ~200 of the list, so was determined to see the rest. Watched about 150 in 2 years. So not too stupid.

Do you have a favourite (or favourites) so far?

Well in terms of films I'd have probably never seen that were on the list:

Before Sunrise/Sunset

The Apartment

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Das Boot

Festen (The Celebration)

Harold and Maude

Kind Hearts and Coronets

Once upon a time in the west

Cinema Paradiso

Sense and Sensibility ( :o Really good!)

M

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Rear Window

And my four favourite surprises:

Requiem for a Dream

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Singin' in the Rain

Sunset Boulevard

---------------------------------------

The Absolute worst:

Badlands

Eraserhead

Blue Velvet

The Thin Red Line

The French Connection

The Last Waltz (not a film a music documentary about a band I've not heard of!)

Suspiria

Thin Red Line and "bad"?ohmy.gif

Have a word with yourself!!!

That piece is poetry on camera - sadly, I can see why some people are put off by its slow tempo and monologues.

The most unfortunate aspect of the movie though is that it came out the same year Spielberg presented Saving Private Ryan.

Slow... Slow... Slow... With school boy poetry. Highly pretentious. And not entertaining, except the hand grenade scene.
