Let's have a films thread.

Thought Oblivion was decent. Not the most original of movies but the imagery was good. 6.975/10.

Trance was a ok but was kind of camp and whimsical in the way it gently swirved in and out of plot chicanes. Needed a tougher edge. 6.05/10

Mud is the best film I've seen lately. Solid 8.00/10.

About to watch Only God Forgives. Not expecting much.

Went to go and see Partridge last night. My mrs (not a Partridge fan) seemed to find it funnier than I did.

Some of the humour didn't seem very Partridge at all (albeit most of it did).

On balance, I enjoyed it, but I think quote a lot of the desperate patheticness of AP was missing.

Watched A Place Beyond the Pines. Good acting, classic story, well directed. Though I have to say that some characters were less fleshed out than others and were a bit weak. Overall good though.

It's a film of two halves for me. The first 40 minutes is great and then the story arc after about the kids is shite.

not a great actor, which kind of spoiled. that's what i mean by a bit weak.

Just watched Side Effects. Hands down the best film I've seen so far this year.

Watched Side Effects a few weeks ago,Jude Law is excellent in it.

Slowly working my way through a backlog of films I've got and not watched yet.

I saw The Hunt last night. To say it was compelling and uncomfortable wouldn't do it justice.

That's the last time I touch a kid... no wait that doesn't sound right. That's the last time I fondle a child... yeah that's more accurate.

Saw the Hunt with a then girlfriend in Soho when it was in the cinema and again a few months ago when it came on LoveFilm. Absolutely staggering vehicle for Mads Mikkelsen who I love anyway.

Some of the reactions and the writing was almost a little TOO hysterical at times but then I suppose who knows? One of the best individual performances of the last few years, though. Very understated. Very Danish!
