Watched Elysium last week. Very average although it looked good.

In fact, this is how most sci fi films are going at the moment, look great but ultimately disappoint. Not seen a decent sci fi for ages.

Any recommendations?

I love sci fi but it was too deep for me. You have to be Dr S Hawking to fully understand it.

I really liked Edge of Tomorrow. Thought that had some good concepts.

Watched Jurassic World. Trying too hard to fit in the 'funny'. Trying to fit in too many set pieces and losing the threat factor.

Limp characters without depth, I was hoping that more of them perished. Lame ending.

Age of Ultron - meandering plot, weaker than the first, with god awful last third act, again too many set pieces weakened any climax with shitty ending

I agree with spherical. First Avengers was a fairly decent family action film, second Avengers was crap.

 

Anybody ever seen the 26 ABC's of death 2? 26 short horror films based on a letter of the alphabet from a-z. Some of them are really quite horrific. A lot of creativity on display.

You really thought the first Avengers was better?

 

Yup. Ultron felt rushed, and not as tight. The script felt a bit 'forced'. Some of the holes in the character motivations, and questions over consistencies of the powers of the characters is irritating to watch.
