Leicestershire County Cricket Club

Think from the side we have now, we have some options in some positions, but are very short in some as well.

Think that will be the starting 11 for County games Samu, Boyce has played down the order before especially in Twenty20, but he is more of an opener when it comes to County Championship games, we also have Smith who can play top 3. We have Taylor who can fit in around 7-8, youngster Tom Wells is an all rounder but don't know where he plays.

We really need to replace White, get some stability in the middle order, Taylor went, White has gone, we had Du Toit who was useless.

Will see who has been released by other clubs.

Pretty good signings this year, hopefully an incremental improvement over the next few years.

Hopefully lad hopefully.

I still think we are missing some key all rounders, for the County Championship/40 Over matches.

With Wayne White leaving it leaves a bit of a hole.

2.Niall O'Brien

3.Ned Eckersley

4.Joe Burns/Ronnie Sarwan

5.Josh Cobb

6.Shiv Thakor

7.???

8.Claude Henderson

9.Anthony Ireland

10.Matthew Hoggard

11.Nathan Buck

Also have a number of youngsters, along with players who have played games before - Smith, Boyce, Naik, Taylor and Wyatt

Leics (from): Thornely, O’Brien, Smith, Eckersley, Sarwan, Cobb, Boyce, Thakor, Taylor, Naik, Hoggard, Wyatt, Freckingham.

Hants (from): Adams, Carberry, Bailey, Vince, Dawson, Ervine, Wheater, Wood, Griffiths, Balcombe, Tomlinson, Briggs.

No buck, williams or ireland extremely thin on the bowling side..naik for the no 7 perhaps. i wonder if henderson will still have much of a role to play.

batting looks more promising than last year but we shall see....

Will be interesting to see how Freckingham makes the step up from club cricket. Nice to see someone coming up from the county league.

Good article about the state of county cricket here: http://www.espncrici...ory/628879.html

Interesting article thanks for posting that.

Love the sound of a FA Cup-style T20 knockout competition.

If t20 is scheduled correctly it could become a huge competition rivaling most other top attended sports.

Weekend evenings are a no-brainer. I've managed to introduce a number of mates to Grace Road who were just football fans before because of games being played on summer Friday nights.

For me the biggest problem with T20 is they seem to make the finals day clash with the opening day of the football season. Nightmare.

They should certainly bring back the old 50 over knockout format with minor counties, universities and county board sides too.

They should certainly bring back the old 50 over knockout format with minor counties, universities and county board sides too.

They should never have scrapped it. Proper, competitive knockout cricket with the chance of an upset. Genuinely exciting matches.

But they then ruined it by turning it into a league format which was the same as the Sunday League, just with semi-finals and a final. Waste of time and a valuable competition was reduced for no good reason.

Having cancelled the Benson and Hedges Cup, to then basically systematically terminate the only other cup competition was ridiculous, before increasing the T20 to a point where plenty of matches were meaningless and dull, it was a major error from the game's rulers.

He's a canny bowler, gets wickets for us season after season.

He's not a bad bat at this level either mate (ie village level!)

Anyone remember the embarrassment of him cleaning us (Leicestershire up) within about 20 overs total, of which he bowled half, taking 8 wickets for about 10ish runs?

If you can get clips anyway, none of the batting was distinguished, but still!

Sad that I've come to expect this kind of performance from county.

Reckon a few of them need to stop posting pics of credit card receipts from Terrace on Twitter all summer and actually do a bit of work on their game.
