Looked really at it and sharp today. All the bowlers bowled well and Smith played a great innings. Score looks close but we were very comfy.

Unfortunately the defeat at Headingley last week put paid to any hopes of qualification. Can't help feeling that they should've been in with a shout of top 4 this year.

Week after week, innings after innings the batters show a lack of concentration and grit, with the exception of Robson and O'Brien. It's a four day game or goodness sake. The ball will do something for 30-40 overs. Leave as much as you can, wait for the bad ball, then when the bowlers tire and the ball loses its hardness you can cash in. This is basic stuff. Someone should get a hundred in every innings. I don't think anyone has scored one since April. Checking the stats I see Smith, O'Brien and Eckersley have one each. Only O'Brien and Robson average over 40 in first class cricket. The only other player averaging above 30 is number 11 Shreck!

Tremlett batting at 9 scores 98, now Clayton batting at 10 scores 75, absolutely astounding, bowled so short to him and he just kept on smashing it to all parts, disgraceful bowling. So they lead by 85 after 1st innings which is a match winning lead with our batting. Add to that, Robson is already out and we are 14-1, another loss from a competitive position.

Another very poor effort and Stevens taking out half our top order

I'm glad I wasn't watching that Riz, I wouldn't have been able to tolerate it I don't think. Embarrassing.

We've criticised them so much, and rightfully, so credit where it's due, brilliant batting from Cobb and Taylor, put us in a very good position, job not done yet though.

When was the last time Sarwan played a real captains innings and got us out of trouble? I really can't remember.

Huge chance, finally Cobb with a strong innings and superbly supported by Taylor.

Let's nail this down now, knock two over tonight and we are in a great position.
