Has it been confirmed that Steel is off then? I know they were looking to shift him after that fall out.

A shame given his batting and bowling both looked to have potential in the short format.

My side at the moment would be:

Gurbaz

Welsh

Lilley

Ackermann

Patel

Hill

Swindells (wk)

Scriven

Parkinson

Naveen

Walker

Hopefully Scriven is an improvement on Mike (can't be more expensive surely!) and Walker likewise on Griffin or Davis (also both too expensive).

Batting looks a bit ropey up top though, Gurbaz is untested though I'm very excited to see how he goes (Inglis very hard to replace), Lilley is a pinch hitter so one or good knocks may help win matches but he's have plenty of low scores too. Patel looks great to watch but his t20 stats were dire last season, Welsh was kept out by Steel. Swindells looked very good in his last couple of knocks and I wonder if he could bat higher and play a bigger role.

Kimber has to be in, most likely over Welch.

T20 will look something like this I reckon:-

Gurbaz

Patel

Lilley

Ackermann

Swindells

Hill

Kimber

Mike/Scriven

Parkinson

Walker

Naveen

I think Walker is an upgrade on Griffiths but then equally Gurbaz is a downgrade on Inglis. Scriven is relatively untested as an all rounder in this format so it would be intestering to see if he's a better option than Mike. Hopefully Hill stays but if not then move Patel down to 6 and bring Welch in to open. Also does anyone know what the score is with Steel? All I know is there's been some sort of fallout.

Hill staying. Phew!

That's great news and a real relief. He'll be targeting 1k runs next season no doubt.

Anyone know the length of contract?  That piece of info was conspicuous by its absence from the news item on the website.  Two years, I hope...

Doesn't say does it. Bizzare. I don't get it.

I can't see Steele just leaving tbh why would he?

Have to be another county come in or a pay off. Griffiths the same

They didn't give the length of contract with Scriven either. I think they are being careful because of criticism in the past and maybe other ongoing negotiations.

I count 26 players on pro contracts for next season, with a couple of overseas players in championship cricket to come - which was their stated aim I think.

New contract last Friday for Kimber.

Looked useful and clearly able to score quickly when needed in white ball.

Hopefully continues to develop next season and given he achieved a maiden 50 in each format thi season just gone he'll fancy some tons hopefully!

 Another positive, hopefully he'll be a good player for us in all formats. Again, no details about the length of these contracts.

New contract for Rehan Ahmed as well.

Kimber, Patel, Parkinson, Swindells, Evans, Scriven, Ahmed, Barnes, Welch & Mike are all u25. Most of them had very good seasons last year so if they kick on even more we've got the makings of a great side.

Patel especially I think there's a lot more untapped potential there

Patel is frustrating.

He's very pleasing to watch, clearly possessing a lot of talent and a classy batter much better than his first class average of 18 suggests.

It's got to be just a matter of time before he starts racking up runs surely.

One day average of 38.4 so he can definitely do it
