Bad enough building a huge squad of mainly mediocre English players but to get the overseas signings so wrong is criminal.

Nico has generally got the overseas people players right during his tenure so I wonder if Henderson has had a bit too much power here?

Possibly, the contrast between last year and this year is huge. Said it previously there must be no end of Australian lads fancying a gig over here with how Labuschagne has done.

Or a measure of how bad the culture/standards within the club are at the moment. Barely anyone is succeeding in the environment, even those that come in.

We obviously needed an overseas batsman again to try and set the tone for the rest of the batting line up, Harris was class last year.

That would be the case with Hendricks but Mulder was lined up last year when Henderson wasn't at the club.

Losing two coaches on the eve of the season probably wasn't great for morale either.

I'd be inclined to drop both Mulder and Hendricks for the next game (unless Mulder gets a score second innings!), as both Barnes and Davis have shown up better so far this season. We also signed a young all-rounder (Tom Scriven), who looks like he not going to get a game unless it's in the 50 over, so what was the point of signing him?

Correct I think we only got Harris because Mulder couldn’t come last season

Nixon out.

Enough of the sentiment, the regression is embarrassing. We are calamitous.

We aren’t even that good at the minute. These are missing all their bowlers aren’t they?

There’s clearly more to Mulder that we haven’t seen yet. Hendricks has just been a dosser. Part time bowlers wouldn’t have figures that bad

Agreed.

Mulder is clearly a good player it's not quite there but he is in the current SA test side so he is a good player.

Hendricks is a mystery has a good record tbf but just looks so ordinary doesn't he? Seems to offer nothing

Ackermann crap again

Maybe a season too much for him, supposed to be our best batsman and leader, the county have regressed so much this year it is shameful also when Barnes stands up and performs he gets dropped for our overseas plodder. Hill looked a bit unlucky as it looked outside the line but Mallender is about as good an umpire as the Foxes our a cricketing team, something has to give.

Mallender again screwing us over today. Seems to umpire so many of our home games.

He does like shooting Hill out, did him in the infamous T20 defeat at Notts, Hill had moved so far to leg you could see leg stump when the ball hit the pad going down, sure that Fvcker Mallender was the only one appealing

Thought Mulder was screwed over as well after looking good. Only lightly flicks his pad well outside off stump.

Other than that one over losing two wickets thought we played quite well today. Shame it’s probably come too late again though forecast is iffy for tomorrow.

Well let’s hope out of this disaster of a season there is a ray of sunlight today in the form of a Rishi ton.

And that for the next game Hendricks is ‘rested’, if that’s what they need to call it to save face, and Barnes returns. 4 wickets in 6 games for our overseas. It’s almost funny it’s so tragic.

Agreed. A good result for us in most games this season looks like it's going to be avoiding an innings defeat.

That's still possible here so hopefully Rishi gets some support to both avoid that and secure a maiden ton.

As ever with our lot, it’s the hope that kills you.

As someone earlier noted, our expectations are so low. A pleasant 60 is seen as a triumph. We’ve achieved one century in 12 innings I think. Our batting has been woeful in every single innings.

Could well be wrong but didn't look like there was that many more on the gate, even with free tickets.

There were a fair few there yesterday, including many from the Asian community, though it could be they were there to see Pujara. I spoke to a few who had taken the offer up. Also heard one lady on the phone who had been dragged along speaking about how bored she was at about 11.30am.
