So far then the players who we seem to have been strongly linked to are:

Notts batter (Thurston or Curran)

Buck

Salisbury

Budinger

Buck and Salisbury would be experienced heads to go into our attack which given Wright won't go on forever would fit well assuming we clear out the deadwood in the attack. Still probably need someone else though that slot could be filled with an overseas and would also have to hope the ball/conditions are more hopeful next year as the records/overs bowled of both Buck and Salisbury have been on the wane in recent years.

Budinger looks ideal to go into our white ball opening pair where outside of flashes from Welch and Steel we've not seen consistent runs.

I'm not sure on whomever it is out of Curran and Thurston it is that Nixon apparently wants. I've seen good knocks from both in the past but equally their overall records suggest players hoping a change of surroundings can reignite their County career before they slip out of the professional game. Would be hard to see either as an improvement on Azad to be honest though.

Squad for tomorrow: Ackermann, Ahmed, Azad, Barnes, Evans, Finan, Kimber, Parkinson*, Patel, Swindells+, Walker, Welch, Wright.

Mulder with SA. Hill and Scriven injured. Mike not considered and Hendricks has gone back to South Africa.

Azad

Evans/Welch

Patel

Ackermann

Kimber

Swindells (WK)

Parkinson (C)

Barnes

Walker

Wright

Finan/Ahmed

I fear the last 3 games could be further humiliation as I'm not sure how to get 20 wickets out of any combination of those bowlers and how we avoid a long, long tail with Parky as high as 7 unless all the batters play which further weakens the attack...

God knows why we allowed Hendricks to go. No idea what type of contract he was on?

Have to take a punt and play Ahmed and Parky and use that to our advantage .

I don't suppose they will. Bound to go for trundlers.

Give Finnan a go instead of Barnes. We've seen Barnes.

I'd go with Welch not Evans.

It doesn't look a great side let's be honest.

Also where is Bowley? He looks a decent bat. Un tried at this level but that because he never gets picked!

Got a 50 in the one day cup. Then dropped. Never played again! WTF

Rhodes would get a 3 Yr deal for a 50.

He can bowl a bit also. Surely worth a look at 6 or 7?

Otherwise why are we paying him? Bloody ridiculous

As predicted 4 medium pacers. Why would Ahmed hang about long term when he doesn't play.

We could really go with a point of difference having a leggy in. But no. He can also bat a bit.

Barnes and Walker both bat a bit, probably at least as well as they bowl...take from that what you will.

Parky can bat too.

The three combined might make up a genuine all rounder...

True. Not sure about there bowling mind!

Unbelievable drop from Patel.

Under 11s stuff

Barnes has enough ability to nail down a place imo, he's still only 24 and not played that many games.
