Not sure what we can do to boost the crowds. If people don't turn up on a beautiful summer day when we need to win to qualify for a semi final when will they turn up? I guess the proposed ground development might help as the current facilities aren't the best, plus on the Milligan Road side of the ground the seats are miles from the pitch. But the location of the ground is a problem too. It's not easy to get to and there are few local amenities such as good local pubs, etc.

One further reflection on yesterday. The pitches we have had for 50 over games at GR have been really stodgy, which hasn't helped create the most entertaining spectacle. I hope they can sort this for the knockout game(s) as our batting line up is much better suited to fast scoring grounds, as we've shown in our away wins.

The ground is easy to get to, how is not?

You’re literally 5 mins in the car off the motorway and plenty of buses that go around the area from town as well as from South Leicestershire.

There’s also a pub bolted onto the ground, (and it’s not like it’s the biggest ground either) You’ve got the local hero amongst others amenities just a 10/15 minute walk away too.

Think the location is bit of a misnomer. Other counties have similar issues - Northants County Ground comparable in that sense. Some are superbly positioned to a city or town but parking is a headache.

You could be the Ageas Bowl or Derby which have no sense of location at all.

I think the only way the crowds would come back would be sustained success and better scheduling. People would always go to Sunday League games because they knew what day of the week it would be on.

We’ll have our biggest game in years on a Tuesday, the day after a bank holiday, in an empty ground, all because the scheduling is messed up.

Derbyshire's two biggest issues are that they play at the extreme south end of the very long and narrow county they represent, and that they don't seem to attract at all the same kind of Friday night crowd from the neighbouring estate that Leicestershire can occasionally take advantage of.

Other than that, the ground's actually in a pretty plum spot right on one of Derby's main road junctions, 10 minutes walk from the city centre, with a bus stop outside serving some really fast and decent routes to satellite towns to the east, and 15 minutes walk from the railway station (via five very good pubs en route to boot). If we had all of that going for us, I reckon we'd be seeing much healthier attendances.

Think Derbyshire would be a county that'd hugely benefit from taking more games on the road to places they used to play like Ilkeston and Buxton. The Chesterfield games always seem really popular, especially because they wisely usually schedule any game they play against Yorkshire there.

As well as Edgbaston. Not a great deal round there from the few times I’ve been either.

Does anyone know if the semi finals are pre drawn? As in, do we know which winner of which quarter final we will play?

Would we not get the winner of 2nd & 3rd from the other group?

Edit: After a quick look around - Group A Winner has a home semi final versus Group A 2nd/Group B 3rd, and vice versa.
