How Was Your Day?

Had an interesting conversation with a neighbour earlier, short story is, my kids birthday was on Saturday, they were all outside playing tag when one of them ran past a dog that jumped up and bit the child. Luckily just a bruise and a child in shock.

I've finally spoken to the dog owner who advised she doesn't normally bite, is a rescue and had been mistreated and must have been startled because of them running up from behind.

I'm an animal lover so been very understanding and suggested for her to send a card and box of malteasers to the child to say sorry, just as a nice gesture and more so to appease the child's parents.

Absolutely put in on a plate for her, simple, £3 gesture, no worries.

Nope she's then gone completely on the defensive saying it wasn't her dogs fault, the child shouldn't have run past her dog (on the pavement) and it doesn't seem as if she wants to apologise to the child.

Now I'm in shock, annoyed and think her attitude stinks. Part of me is now thinking I should report it to the police given she's clearly not the best owner. Dog bites should be reported anyway I believe, but I held off hoping we could sort it like grown ups.

I'm in disbelief tbh.

I think you were very understanding and fair minded, the owner has really failed to accept your appeasing advice. And, yes, I fully understand why your concerned regarding her conduct as a dog owner.

Thanks bud, I agree, completely baffled by her attitude that it's not the dogs fault because she was startled by the child running.

I've had rescues before and if they are that jumpy around kids, you muzzle them when in areas with alot of kids, like our estate it's always crawling with them

Shit day. Worked yesterday as usual then got a call my aunt had an unexpected turn for the worse so rushed to hospital to be with her and my cousins/uncle. Was with them all when she passed in the early hours this morning. Brings back emotions of losing my mum and once again puts things back into perspective with what is important in life.

Wishing you all happiness today and for better times.

That’s more than a bit rough chap. :(. Family can mean so much when you’re all close. Sorry to hear.

Had a good day went to Alton Towers and it was highly enjoyable.

Gave me a bit of respite from the low moods/feelings I’m having

Am pleased to hear.

It's a great feeling to have, especially when you feel low and don't know if you'll ever feel happy again.

Istanbul may well be the city for me. I think I could live here. I like a bit of daily anarchy. And kebabs. Daily anarchy and kebabs. Which is also the title of my latest album, available from all genuinely disreputable sellers.

It’s a wonderful place.  All the best places have terrifying taxi rides imo.

Do you speak any of the lingo?

I worked with a Turkish guy for years and got him to teach me some choice naughty phrases!

 Güzel kiç!

I do a very good ‘thank you very much’, a reasonable ‘hello’…and everything else I taught myself on Duolingo for 6 months I need prompts for from Google translate. Nothing is guaranteed to piss me off more than hearing someone making zero effort to speak a tiny bit of someone else’s language.

Loved Istanbul its crazy but amazing.

Funny how you can be welcomed into mosques in Istanbul but i wouldn't be able to get into one in my own city!!

Im sure you've done your research but get a ferry out to one of the islands nearby(Cant remember the name!) but its lovely to just get the peace and tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle.

Enjoy all the backlava!!

My mum lost her battle with MND on Tuesday. I feel so numb and lost.

Sorry to hear that, I know several of us on the board have been through what you're going through. Just know that it does get easier and you're left with the happy memories and the horrendous grief you're going through now is temporary.

Bless you mate, that's so sad.

My Mum is dying from pancreatic cancer and the chemo hasn't worked. We know she hasn't got long left and my Dad is struggling to come to terms with it.

I hope your family are all pulling together and supporting each other through this difficult time.
