How Was Your Day?

Recommended Posts

Got an electrician in the flat checking electrics. Embarrassing when he went upstairs and asked to use the loo. He said it had seen better days. That was the reason I put the seat down so he would not see what it was like.

Had to do a five day spring clean in a day yesterday. There are one or two things for him to check. Hope he's not too long. Not keen on people in my flat. Its hard to carry on as normal.

First day of the beer Fest as well yesterday. The Salmon and Kings Head also has one.

Your toilet could be in a worse state by tonight, then, Ken.  :D

I do still miss ale-drinking sometimes (9+ months off now). Sobriety has distinct benefits, but life can get very dull....

Hopefully they'll sort my ticker out in a couple of months time and I'll be able to celebrate the rejuvenation with a few ales.

I'm amazed I'm still functioning.

When you're knackered and looking forward to going to bed, what you don't want to find is that the aquarium filter has cracked - completely on its own - and is poised to piss 240 litres of water on to the floor.

2 am I got to bed, f*** this, I'm old

Someone I know had a heart attack at 47 a while back. He was in rushed to hospital. He was told give up drinking and fags. He has managed the fags part and went onto wine but got fed up with it and went back to his regular drink Newcastle Brown.

Is there no alcohol free beer that you could have? I know a lot of it is crap but it may have improved since I last tried it. I have always wondered why a brewery have not produced it and still kept the flavour. Would be OK for drivers They do it for cigarettes.

They would probably hype the price up though. At the other end they have Baz's Bonce Blower at the Fest again. 12%. Served some near the end of the night. Before the Fest is over I guarantee that a group of lads will all have a pint of it to show how manly they are.

Its all done. I know have a working bedroom light switch and an upstairs landing light (minus a bulb)

First your fish are scratching at the glass trying to break out, now they're trashing their accommodation...

My brother was telling me last night that one of his old mates was recently found dead in bed at 47. Maybe 47 is the new 27?

"Live every day as if it were your last" is an impractical old cliche, but "give God a laugh, tell him your plans" is a good one (if we can substitute "fate" for "God")

Let me know if you can recommend any tasty alcohol-free beers. I've never found any before - just tasty alcohol-filled beers. Not sure I see the point, anyway. If I'm socialising but not boozing, I'm happy enough on soft drinks. Might confuse my brain, too, drinking alcohol-free beer leading to drinking proper beer.

I haven't had a heart attack, btw, just a dodgy heart rhythm necessitating Warfarin to avoid strokes. Combining Warfarin with the sort of industrial quantities of ale that I prefer is dangerous (seriously thin blood, death, other such minor complications).

If they can fix the dodgy rhythms (minor op due in 2-3 months) and there aren't other major risks, I'll be sorely tempted to get back on the ale train. Continuous sobriety involves severe limitations, as well as benefits.

Enjoy the Beer Fest(s), Ken. Have a pint for me - but don't put it on my tab.

At the beer Fest there was a youngish bloke wearing a City shirt. When came to be served I said I like your shirt. We then chatted for about ten minutes about how well they are doing. He says he has supported them a few years but find it hard to get tickets. Anyone from FT at the Fest?

BTW this was near the end of the night when the hall was not busy so I did not neglect any other customers. I am improving with my bartending but would not want to work in a pub. Too hectic when busy. Ten to 11 a load came to be served and I was tending on my own. The others had gone to get their ale from other bar when it was quiet.

Haha just had to chase a lizard out of my kids room. Personally I like then as they eat mosquitoes. But the kids... Not so much.

The little f'er dropped his tale and ended up behind my kids bed. Finally clobbered him and sent him out the window.

My son was devastated, he liked him too. My daughter was very happy!!

What do you mean by controller

When we bought the house we had this controllery thing put in Doc that controls the heating and one of its boards blew up ....     the bloke has pulled it out and will be back on Monday ....    in the meantime the heating is permanently ON.

Sounds like a First World Problem, to me.

Today, my beautiful daughter and her partner will get "married" it wont be legally recognised because fvckwit homphobes and religious idiots still prevent two people in love from being legally married in this backwater.

I spent the past year studying to get my Celebrancy Authority, and i will be performing the ceremony.

A beautiful 28 degree day, the ceremony will take place at the hippy enviromental gardens nearby.

A beautiful day indeed :)

Congratulations to her, let's hope it'll be legally recognised everywhere before too long  :D
