How Was Your Day?

Recommended Posts

My interview today was for the job of Financial Controller for a casino.

Sadly that casino is the Isle Casino at the Ricoh. I'm not sure I can stomach working within that despicable place 5 days a week surrounded by their sort

My day? Bloody great!

Got a job offer, which I will accept - thing is, boss has been really really nice to me so far this week, so handing in my notice on Friday will be like shooting a pet puppy...

My boss is really good taught me everything i know gave me opurtunities despite my age and lack of experience and now his helping me look for a new job......its just a pitty we work for a bunch of muppets who own the company who thankfully stay at head office

Just got worse.

My boss has put a Nickleback cd on in the office.

I'm gonna sound like a douchebag, but to all those who have had job interviews and such.

Any tips on how to go about them ?

Be Polite, Confident, always make sure you have a few pre prepared questions ie strenghts weakness, where you see your self in 5 years.

Make sure you try not to answer yes or no to question always explain answers for instance.

Always be positive to questions they ask you even if you don't necceraly agree. For instance do you like working weekends? answer positively if the hours are shit then you can always turn it down when they offer it to you.

The interview from last week i didn't think it would be right for me but i went to the interview for experience and to see if it was actually what i thought it would be. Cos i would have hated to go half hearted at it then find out it was what i wanted and i've just ruined my chances

Preparation. Research the company you are looking to join. Maybe pop by their reception and ask for some literature (they LOVE this!!).

In the interview, relax. If you can, get a job interview or 2 with companies you really aren't fussed for working for, just to have some "no pressure" practice.

What sort of job you going for?

Read about the company you're looking to get a job with, see if there's any recent news articles online, look at their website.

Read the job description - they'll usually give a list of skills they want the candidate to have, try & think of at least one example for each one where you've displayed said skill.

Sometimes they'll ask what are your strengths & weaknesses so it's good to have an answer prepared - make sure the strengths you say match the skills required for the job.

Honestly... as bad as it sounds I'm not sure  .

But thanks for all the pointers anyway chaps.

Every interview I have ever been on, I have been asked 'What, do you feel, are your weaknesses'.

The trick is to turn it into a positive. Eg, "Experience at ... , but I am willing to learn".

Have fun, I love interviews, it is he thrill of winning, feels good. ;)

My day was up and down someone made a complaint about me out of no where it go resolved easily cos they found out quickly the guy was a weirdo frak and he was told to look for a new job, he had only been there a month and he didn't like my work stlye or something, so that was a pain in the arse but satisfying to know that managment stuck up for me and believe my side of events. plus i found out there are some people out there that you may not speak to that want ti bring you down for no reason.

Might I suggest a spot of binge drinking?

Yes, yes you can.

May I request a tipple that will do the job with minimal capital outlay and time consumption ?

Buying things for the playboy flat I haven't got yet is crippling ye olde bank balance.

Intresting day,

Interview went well (i think), then went to the docs and he said drinking 6 pints on a night was extremly extemly bad (god forbid it was more around the 12 mark :P ). Then when we discussed the real issues he sent me for a blood test and brain scan for tomorrow but wouldn't tell me why. All i did was go in there cos i felt unwell, oh well will see what comes of it.
