How Was Your Day?

Recommended Posts

Good day today (not as good as DANGEROUS TIGER though) went Gym for an hour plus and now just preparing for a night shift

Oh my God. Before I joined the Police I worked a rotating shift system in a factory for 19 years. You really do have my sympathy, for nights are bloody dreadful. One naturally feels tired at night, and it was a constant battle for me. Mind versus physical tiredness. Good luck, and well done pal/ Those who have never done it, have no idea. I really hated, 2=10 shift though.

I found that working a nightshift ruined any chance of having a normal personal life. Had to come off them a few weeks ago and slipped back onto days. With the mrs working a 9-5 and me working a 6-6 night we never actually saw eachother during the week(some may consider this a blessing in disguise). I also found that i could have 9 or even 10 hours sleep during the day but come 2am i was completely wrecked again. i respect anyone who can manage working a nightshift and maintaining a decent homelife. As it isnt easy.

I worked nights and days for about 7 years in security. Thought I had got used to it but I hadnt really. Out of work now and just getting used to normality. Still stop up till 3-4am sometimes. Get up 8am when I go bed midnight but could be earlier if I wanted. So looking for early morning part time work. Dont want to go back to 48hr night and day shift but the job centre may not feel the same. They see I've done it for a few years and might think I should take any job any hours until I drop.

They were OK today though. looked at my looking for work card and said right see you in two weeks goodbye. Probably my age and conceding I'm on the scrapheap.

I hated shift work. Last year I worked a 4-12 on three week days then a 8-6 on sat. I had to do it so I could look after Foxy Jr during the day but it meant that I rarely saw Ms Foxy which was definitely not a good thing.

Went to my boss about the problem with my co worker and he advised me to start informal bullying procedures.

Bought chinos  I feel less manly now.

do you normally steal them then ?

:D

edit; re your avatar

are you a big fan of Kevin from the eggheads

I like Mark the beast from "the Chase"

I'd love to see the chasers take on the eggheads as there are now 4 chasers and I'd have Bradley as the 5th member

Kevin is my idol yes and I do actually like Mark the most from the Chase although I wouldn't like to get the wrong side of Anne Hegerty and I agree Comic relief should get it sorted! Eggheads vs Chasers.

Dammed Sean from the chase... Mrs Oz gets all in a tizz when he makes an appearance...so much to live up to, in so many ways.

Can i do how was my 2 days?...

Landed back in OZ (perth) to find that the bank had refused my daughters home loan 17 hours before the settlement time..seventeen fvucking hours (after it had been going through for 34 days and they had verbally approved it etc)..refused it because the roof has 0.8% asbestos in it  .. fvck off you knob ends.. every house built in Australia in the 50's has asbestos... anyway then discovered that her mortgage broker had been slightly misleading about some of the details  and now my daughter is unable to buy is Sth Oz whilst she is living in West OZ (where her job/income is)... so... instead of us going home to Adelaide where we all lived for 30+ years. we have no choice but to stay in WA and help her buy a house here.

Mothers and mother inlaws in tears.. wife and daughter in tears... friends and others moaning ..all in all... a coont of a couple of days.

BUT... got to hug my daughter and see her smile :)

Went to Gateway College to (we thought) meet my daughter's tutors but they weren't there, we had to listen to some crap speech by the Principle, mentor etc.

Driving home, a car and a van pulled up in the middle of the road and 2 blokes had a punch up in the middle of the street.

I did read once, that thirty years of shift work, can reduce your life span by ten years. Don't mean to worry you, as you will probably see 100.

I really do sympathise. I have not worked for some eighteen months, and am out to grass on a police medical pension. Life is bloody frustrating now, as well as boring.

I don't miss shift work though.

Eating is cheating. Haven't you learnt that yet?

No.

Skipped the football and rugby socials and went to the union instead - downed 4 bottles of vodka to get a hat then went off to play poker. T'was a productive night in which I got about 2 hours sleep (had to be up by 9 for a free fry-up.)
