The Official Singstar Thread

Recommended Posts

I have de Lips

Apparently you get points for dancing while singing. Being a male I know it is impossible to do two things at once so I do hope they have a 'Dad mode'

The only thing Lips has going is the wireless mics. Hopefully Singstar will get this sorted next year.......

You'll have to let us know how it compares, though!

How have i only just seen this thread? I am Singstar crazy & have just about every disc out there. Thats a cracking score Lisa. I just can't picture Carl being the karaoke type.

I can't imagine you playing it either!!

I want to hear Fynwy singing. Fact.

It's worth the entrance fee. :giggle:

This weeks update:

Anberlin - "A Day Late"

Anberlin - "Paper Thin Hymn"

The Beach Boys - "Fun Fun Fun"

Cliff Richard - "Mistletoe And Wine"

Jimmy Barnes - "Working Class Man"

Jona Lewie - "Stop The Cavalry"

The Outfield - "Your Love"

Paul McCartney - "Pipes of Peace"

Rick Astley - "Together Forever"

Roy Orbison - "Pretty Paper"

The Swingers - "Counting The Beat"

Village People - "Y.M.C.A."

Plus a Xmas songpack

Celine Dion - Christmas Eve

Toni Braxton - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Babyface - Sleigh Ride

Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime

Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas

The wireless mics are a massive plus. No doubt about it.

They have very much used the singstar template with the note bars and the lyrics. They have however added a bouncing ball to the top of the lyrics and added the lyrics to the start of each bar or series of bars so you know when exactly when the new word starts. I like this, especially when a word may stretch over a few bars (notes).

Prompts pop on the screen as to when to move your mic such as clap your hands above your head, tilt the mic up etc. This is shite as it usually appears halfway through a lyrical line when you are too busy singing to notice. Being male as well means I can only do one thing at once.

You can also shake the mic or hit the buttons on the normal controller to make a drum, tambourine and finger click sound. Why you may want to do this is beyond me at the minute.

You can also call up songs stored on an external device such as your ipod or a computer on the network. I am told you can search a site through Xbox Live for the lyrics for the song so the note bars appear but haven't got that far yet. I have sung to a song stored on my computer and all you do is hum along and you get loads of points which is a bit crap as it cant differentiate between notes in the song and lyrics but as I say more investigation is needed here.

The downloads from Xbox Live are limited at the moment but you dont have to buy packs. You can buy individual songs which is better. Songs are 160 points each or £1.25 each. You can also earn free points by registering your music on their site. Again this needs looking into as I have only grabbed the free song so far which I cant find in the lips menu.

Overall I would say it is an enhanced version of singstar but your not missing anything worth having at the moment.

When are we doing singstar?

Tell us when you're in Leicester next, and we'll try and sort something out.

I want a Bond Themes Singstar. That would be on the money.

It has been requested, apparently. Think the next one is going to a musicals one, however.

Been a long time -

You say you missed me

Word gets round -

You shouldn't have dissed me

Step back - don't try to kiss me

Right about now I'm 50/50

Original singstar was where it was at!

Why do you build me up?

If you didn't already know, unless you have a BC PS3, your old PS2 game discs are useless. That was until today...

It’s the first anniversary of SingStar for PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have a special celebration gift for loyal PlayStation®2 (PS2™) SingStars: the ability to play our collection of PS2 discs through SingStar PS3!

Arriving right in time for the holiday SingStar party season, a free online update to SingStar PS3 will allow PS2 SingStars to upgrade to PS3 safe in the knowledge that they can take their whole collection of discs with them – while PS3 SingStars can now dust off their PS2 discs and relive the SingStar parties of holidays gone by.

All you’ll need to do is connect to PlayStation®Network when the online update goes live on December 16th – 10:00 AM GMT. Once it’s downloaded (automatically), you’re good to go. Start your SingStar PS3 session as normal by loading any SingStar PS3 disc – then, you’ll be able to swap it for any PS2 disc for the rest of the session.

Source

It uses the same interface as the PS3 game, which is nicer. My only gripe is that when scrolling through the menu it can be a little slow to give you the 'snippet', but I can live with it.

Happy days!

Way too high for me.

Abba stuff is well in my vocal range, however I can't stand them!!

Played this game for the first time this weekend, always been a guitar hero man myself, and not much of a singer. But what a game!

Get a group of you together, a few drinks and its just pure quality, so much fun. Blaring out classics such as Gold and Hungry like the Wolf, amazing!

Still not played rock band, and im sure that takes things to a whole new level.
