Recommended Posts

What's happened with those no marks today then?

They tried to tell me that I will receive no money for 4 weeks. I asked them why. They said it was because I applied late, telling me that I did not apply until September 6th. I proved to them that I applied as early as the spring, and that even if I had applied late, it would have been their fault for not sending out the forms which second year students are supposed to receive in May. I shouted a bit, and hung up. I'm going in to the LEA on Monday, and I'm not leaving until I receive a written guarantee that my money will be in my bank account by October 1st, which is when the first rent payment on my house is due. Incompetent arseholes.

Last year I had a number of issues too. It took me going in to the LEA to sort it out then. They guy who dealt with me was polite, and seemed educated enough to understand my complaint, which included words which had more than two syllables. I had my money within two weeks of seeing him.

The problem I have is that I shouldn't have to do that. Thats what the online/telephone services exist for. Unfortunately, those who answer the phones appear to be incompetent. Maybe I am being unfair, and I've just been unlucky with the people whom I have spoken to. But based on my own experiences over the last couple of years, I have no doubt that every single one of the Student Finance staff are addicted to mogadon.

No. I think you're being too fair. I've never spoken to these people but I get the general impression nowadays that everyone I speak to on the phone that isn't friend or family is in fact a complete idiot.

I agree with both those statements.

I must admit my eyes light up at stationary.

I love 'em, but getting excited over a standard Bic ballpoint?

I just had 2000 branded pens done for work, mainly so that I can take them home.

I never use them of course - it just feels like I'm getting more!

I'll have one!

Drinking one third of a bottle of red wine (yeah, ONE THIRD) and waking up the next morning with a hangover. What the f**k.

It happens when you get old. :(
