What grinds my gears...

I know what you said, no need to repeat it, I wasn't accusing of jumping lights or breaking the law, but a lot of people do and regardless of how logical it is for cyclists to be able to cycle safely through a red light, they can't.

It is also worth remembering that red lights are not just for traffic control they are also for pedestrians to cross at, and allowing cyclists through red lights could endanger the safety of those crossing the road, if I could change the law I would change it so that all vehicles had to stop at a red light but if it was completely safe and clear to go they could do, basically like a stop sign, I don't like the idea of cyclists being able to fly through a red light legally, many pedestrians see a green man and know it could change any minute and will hurry across the road believing they are safe and not look.

I think that law should apply to me. However I don't trust the general population to have any "common sense".

And that is why they don't. When the government make laws/regulations that take all thought out of living, specifically in this case driving, we lose any need for common sense, and therefore the capacity for it.

Driving around any city or motorway these days is such a monotonous procession of signs, instructions and traffic lights, that any real thought is left redundant except on the odd occasion where they have stuck some inexplicably complicated junction in there for no reason what so ever that causes drivers to go into a blind panic and do something stupid.

As a cyslist I think you should be allowed to use your common sense at red lights - when there's nobody trying to use the crossing connected to the light for instance, or when you're on a bike path which doesn't cross any other roads at the t-junction following the lights (so any cars joining from another road road won't touch your patch of tarmac anyway). It is after all a lot more effort to get going again on a bike than in a car.

Yes good idea lets get that written into the highway code, fvck the rules just use common sense. :D

Right this one really pisses me of in the morning-The weather forecast. Yes we need to know what the weather is going to be like but do we need telling twice within few minutes of each other ?

First we have the national weather forecast then it swiches to a regional forecast that tells you exactly the same thing ! for fvck sake we are not America of Australia we are a farting little Island, one weather forecast is all that's needed.

Take the rules away and you have to use common sense. It works - if you take away road markings, crossing and lights and signs people are much

More careful. We rely way too much on signals.

We can't take away the rules now though. Some people are so heavily conditioned by rules and being told what to do, they'd go to pieces if common sense and free will were encouraged. Same people who moan about the 'big brother' state are those who need it.

It's the 10 o'clock that annoys me. You get a local local forecast, followed by a national forecast. Why the hell would I want to watch a forecast specialised for my local area, followed by one that tells me that again, plus the weather for all the other parts of the country totally irrelevant to me.

Hospital parking.

Yesterday at Glasgow's Souhern General there were no parking spaces free in any of the 6 carparking areas I visited.

Aware of the problem, they have put double yellow lines on all surrounding streets within a mile and the housing estate next door is 'residents only'.

When, after 25 minutes circling, I find a space at the edge of a carpark, where a line of other cars is parked, I take my chance.

30 seconds after I'm out of sight, the bastards pounce and ticket me and all the other cars.

I hope their bollocks are horrendously disfigured in an accident involving a hole punch and a pipecleaner. Then they could then hobble in pain from the nearest car parking space THREE FVCKIN MILES AWAY.

So hospital parking isn't free in Scotland ?

The Exam Board.

I've just received my daughters result from her 1st GCSE maths exam, unit 2 foundation tier.

She got 49 out of 66 which would of been a C grade, but as the exam board have significantly increased the the mark needed to 53 from 41 after she took the exam, but before they marked them she received a D grade.

I, the school and probably many other parents are fuming as we've only just been told of the increase with a letter that came with her result. This is very unfair and as she took the exam before the proposed increase was set, she should of been scored on the old scale surely?

Only 2 kids in the whole class received a C grade, Shocking really. She can re-sit it and only needs another 4pts but that's not the point, as before she sat it she was told she needed 41pts or more for a C and she did that in a subject that's not her best. :@

The school has put in a written complaint to revise the scores, but I can't see it doing much good. Here's hoping though :fc:

Can't see how knowing the grade boundary had been changed would have changed her percentage result, unless she had micromanaged her learning so as to intentionally fall within the previously specified grade boundary, which seems unlikely. Most students just do their best regardless of where the boundaries are, don't they?

Ridiculous isn't it, her ability in the subject hasn't changed but her grade has to ensure more people fail, because people can't be seen as successful unless someone else fails.

Cretinous lumps.

But if in your mocks you pass 8 out of 10 exams, you are naturally going to focus your attention on those you failed.

Of course they do their best, I'm proud of her and I'm sure she'll reach the new required score. It's just very very annoying and she could of done without the re-sit.

Yes lets take away the level crossings while we are at it, we all know that is only common sense not to cross the tracks if a train is comming don't we.

Actually I perhaps do need two weather forecasts as I'm too busy watching that Scots bints big tits on the morning B.B.C news to take any notice the first time around.

Anyone see Inside Out the other day? There was a report on mobility scooters. They had a cfilm clip of a bloke going down the road on one and he had a roll of carpet on his knee. Took up about two lanes. Would be a good one for funny pictures or videos if its available.

Since when did 'till' become a satisfactory substitute for 'until'?

"Till" is an older word than "until".

Comes from the old Germanic word meaning "goal" or "direction" - if any of you know German, it is related to the word "Ziel".

The grammar guides say that they are interchangeable.
