You bring him up in nearly every thread you start. I think personally you like him and want him to notice you.

You can't start thread or make a post and then expect everybody to agree with you. If you don't like someone disagreeing with you don't post anything.

To be fair Ken you are a bit of a evangalist of the poor.  Good for you and all that, but no one likes to be told they are ignorant and elitist ALL the time.  Especially when they are not, and when you are completely unwilling to see the point of view of the working man or recognise examples of people abusing the system.

I genuinely don't think I ever mentioned it that much and only ever said about my 'status' for want of a better word, when it was relevant to a post. Either he was wrong or I'd unintentionally mentioned a bit too much! I ended up getting a bit like Rincewind.

 

I can accept someone getting on my back when I've posted something completely controversial but I've never liked being accused of something you've not done.

Fair enough. But I have met people who have experienced and worked with people that have been through the system. One or two NOT ALL have constantly been saying these are lazy scroungers alchys etc when their reason for being in the position they were in was not this. The editor I work with came from an abusive relationship. I have invited one person to appear on the radio station I am involved with to put fdorward their views. They have refused.

I am well aware that there are many playing the system I know some myself. It is no fun being on Min wage. Although it is quite possible to exist the quality of life goes down. There is no football, socialising etc. It is just existing. Imagine doing that for months and sometimes years on end. I'm not saying hand out money.

I also know people that have been in shared housing that are used after coming out of an hostel. Some of the landlords do nothing in repairs and are unhelpful. They also have neighbours who do have and alcohol problems. This makes it hard to return to normality after a breakdown. Music blaring at 3am etc.

The people I know have come through that but it took a great deal of confidence building and pointing in the right direction by others..

 

Now I am considering deleting this because I don't want to upset anyone. I am not having a go at anyone. Two years ago I may have been in agreement more with some things.

I'll try and be less contraversal in future. I do respect the views of others and what I put down may not come across in the right way. I apologise for that. It may be better if I disappear for a while.

im sure people don't think like that Ken.Just remember the support and concern when you were ill.How are the horses by the way?People have differing opinions on many subjects,you may agree and disagree with the same poster on different threads and that's what makes a forum interesting,I never take anything to heart but I act like a tw@t most of the time and don't take things seriously.There aren't any posters I would wish to fook off to be honest.

Stop being such a drama queen, you're a grown man. I haven't seen you being "called all sorts of names". People often disagree with you as people often disagree with me. It's not a personal attack it's just a difference of opinion. People could rip your views apart a lot more harshly than they do, believe me.

Thanks. I was very touched and grateful for the cards. It's not so much getting at me, it seems a dig at people I know too sometimes and they cannot defend themselves. Then again maybe I've not met enough of the negative types for balance.

Exactly what Moose said.There will always be disagreement ,but when you were poorly( Ken well being thread)Moose,Mattp and Jon the Hat,who have disagreed with some of your posts showed what I think was genuine concern.Might be worth you reading that thread again ,where I believe posters showed their true colours.That thread was fantastic as everyone put their differing views to one side and focused on your well being ,I'm not having a dig Ken,but if there is anything that will convince you that people do care,that's the thread to read.

I think the phrase here is "toughen up princess"   It isn't the point of view, it is the bringing of that to every thread and turning it into a single issue about the poor or the homeless.  There are lots of other things to talk about!
