What grinds my gears...

Now teaching 32 classes a week instead of 27 because the school apparently "cant afford" to employ a new teacher to replace the one who left last month.

Yeah Ms. Director, I've seen the car you drive and the other school branches you run. Stop talking out of both sides of your mouth like some fvcking politician and just admit you're a money-grubber who thinks it's a better business idea to run us all into the ground instead.

I'm guessing they aren't paying you by the hour then? It is a bit poor that but if anyone can get their heads together and force her to change her mind, its teachers :P

I'm supposed to get overtime pay if I do over 30 a week, but contracts here are just pieces of paper so I honestly doubt I'll see any of it. I'd just appreciate it if they were honest about it all.

Have another inset day to talk about it. ;)

Haha, what's one of those then? Over here the kids have to be in school every day the parents can make them do so. Especially fee-charging cram ones like this.

I get confused here, are you in south korea?

Must be pretty hectic having even more classes then

I am indeed...

I wouldn't actually mind the extra work if it was presented in an orderly manner with a good reason and some recompense for it, but the whole thing just stinks of half-arsedness and the school owner looking to squeeze as much cash as possible.

Teacher in complaining about having a bit more work to do shocker.

Sorry Moosey, you're clearly a smart guy but what part of "I wouldn't actually mind the extra work..." and the context did you not quite understand?

I'll give you a +1 for the needling attempt, though. :P

Doesn't sound to good. :( Hope all is ok.

It isn't. We got a bit of good news on that front though but it's still not great.

I had an informal interview today for a manager job in work (in Derry though) and there's not a chnace of me getting it as the interviewers combed through every word of my answer trying to trip me up and look for faults.  The manager has someone in mind.

Sure nobody would mind extra work "if" it was all easy and you got paid loads for it. But unfortunately being busy every now and again is the way things work. I haven't done less than 60 hours in a week since November. That's 50% more than my contracted hours for no extra pay. Do I complain? No. Why? Because doing my job is what I'm being paid for.

Btw did you see the article I linked to in the good news thread? All about the huge demand for aerospace engineers in the uk

There's a theory that being given a hard time at an interview is a good sign, meaning that they're taking you seriously as a candidate for the job so want to test you, and that it is when you're given an easy ride that they have someone else in mind or don't rate you on paper. Whether it's true, I've no idea... Good luck, anyway.

As I said, I don't mind the busyness. It's the fact that it's pointless and could be easily solved that it the gear grinder here.

I saw that article myself..It's a step in the right direction, most definitely. Having been involved I'm not entirely sure where this 'massive demand' is right now but it bodes well for the future.

Anti virus. Whats the effin point if when you need it it doesnt work? I thought its supposed to prevent infection but even though it claims to intercept bad files, my laptop is screwed. Gonna take ages to fix this. Full blown macafee can get replaced with free avast while im at it.

And yankees hats. Walked past jd sports today and spotted a new era stand. So I went in and after wading through 10's of different shapes, styles and colours of yankee hats, asked if they had a boston one. No was the reply. Fvcking retarded.

Thanks.

Didn't get it as I thought.  It sort of gave it away when the two interviewers were trying their hardest not to make it too obvious that they were trying to write down as little of my answers as possible.

Still, a bit of experience and some interview tips.

Fair play to that great paper the Daily Mail for being even-handed and covering this story. I'm astonished, though, that there hasn't been a peep out of all the people laying into Harriet Harman on here...

It does explain why the Tories didn't have much to say about Harman's misjudgment in the 70s, though, when they had employed someone in No. 10 Downing Street now reportedly arrested for accessing child porn........employed to advise on children and the internet, among other things! You couldn't make it up!  :o

 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2573017/Cameron-profoundly-shocked-No-10-aide-arrested-child-porn-did-three-weeks-public.html

"Cameron 'profoundly shocked' by No 10 aide arrested over child porn but why did it take almost three weeks to be made public?
  • Patrick Rock was one of David Cameron's closest aides
  • The 62-year-old was involved in drawing up policy on child porn
  • But he quit after allegations against him were revealed
  • Unmarried aristocrat was tipped for peerage only weeks ago
  • David Cameron today said he is ‘profoundly shocked’ by child porn allegations against a senior aide and close friend, as he was forced to defend Number 10 from claims of a cover-up.

Patrick Rock resigned from the government almost three weeks ago, after the Prime Minister was told of the potential offence and detectives from the National Crime Agency searched No 10.

But the allegations only came to light last night after they were revealed by the Mail, forcing the government to defend its secrecy".

In all seriousness, there will obviously be people in all walks of life and of all political opinions who get involved in such conduct (and he's innocent until proven guilty). There should be sound measures in place to minimise their chances of doing so, though.

Does show extraordinarily poor security precautions at No. 10, though - and a lack of wisdom among those who might see such activities as the preserve of the "loony left"....

I did think when the Harman story broke that if it was politically motivated it seemed like a strange target, because frankly you go digging for this stuff anywhere and you'll find it sooner or later.  Probably better for DM that they uncover this new story than someone else.  Wasn't expecting something so serious to come up so quickly though.

I don't think anyone is genuinely stupid enough to make any link between any predisposition or tolerance of this sort of thing with political leanings, regardless of what the recent reporting of the NCCL stuff might have inferred, but I've been disappointed by folk before.

As an aside, I think the simple answer to the Mail's question of 'why did it take three weeks to be made public?' is, because it looks bad and they hoped it would go away

No way. Ruined

Tell me about it.

Sod Ukraine, this is proper important

I've only just learned that Susanna Reid is defecting from BBC Breakfast News to the new ITV replacement for Daybreak.

Good luck with that, Susanna.  You're dead to me now

i 've noticed my missus is being more attentive to me these last few days since Susannah has become single again and probably on the lookout for a new bloke .

The bloke resigned didn't he?  There is no evidence that he has tried to influence policy, and I am sure that would have some up with those reviewing it had he done so.

He should have done a Pete Townsend/Chris Langham and claimed it was for 'research'.  At least it was related to his job

I didn't actually know!  I feel like I should do something, but not sure what.

I imagine it's because of this ITV thing.  I mean, you're bound to feel let down by that
