Sun lost in R1 of a lower grade WTA grass court event about three weeks ago to a player ranked 281st, now she’s in the Wimbledon quarter finals 😲

It's a funny old game, innit? :P

Yep.

If I were Murray I would be seething at the LTA and whoever else tbh because he's done everything he could to establish a legacy and everyone else is fvcking it up.

Crowd nice enough to recognise how good Sun was, she seems pretty shocked with it all.

Luckily enough for every other British tennis player, it's not all about Andy Murray and what's best for him.

Edit - I think I misunderstood your post. Apologies.

I find wimbledon so dull compared to other grand slams.  The crowd have a lot to do with it, I know we'll never get the atmosphere of the US open or the Aussie open but so little engagement is a little off putting.

It's a little annoying because the crowd have shown they can make some noise, they just don't engage far too often.

I feel like she spent those three weeks studying how to play on grass.

You're right, it's about what's best for British tennis.

And he delivered and practically no one else has.

It wouldn’t be Wimbledon without a random non seed in the Women’s QF’s lol

Was thinking along the same lines, her style can translate well on grass. Overpowered Raducanu, plus she came into the net quite well on a number of occasions, bit of an old school style at times.

Her shots especially her forehand were so powerful - Raducanu was weak returning and she came to the net early and got the point everytime.

Sun first serve needs work, but her shot power and resilience were top notch today, looking forward to her QF.

As @HighPeakFox just mentioned, she blasted over 50 winners past Raducanu today, the most by any woman at this year’s Wimbledon so far.

Thought Raducanu let her dictate play far too often though, especially in the sets she lost, she went into Elina Svitolina passive mode on too many occasions for my liking.

I suspect she wasn't 100% fit.

Feel  the ladies could be anyone’s as has been the case for a few years at Wimbledon.

Been 6 different winners in a row apparently.

Although Rybakina might be favourite now

There's definitely more to this isn't there. Even some strapping would have been convincing

Yep she had a match the next day.

Why did Murray pull out the singles and was fit to play in the doubles

Great comeback by Fritz against  Zverev.

He looked fresh as a daisy by the end too! Guessing Zverev's knee was getting the better of him but he was still hitting some powerful winners.

Raducanu actually did Murray a favour by withdrawing from the doubles imo. Imagine the furore if she'd played the doubles and then lost the next day (as she did) in the singles. He'd be getting the blame from certain sections of the press.
