Bluefoxtim Posted 16 February 2009 Share Posted 16 February 2009 Woke up to read through my 1500 word essay and print it off, but upon opening, all the text has been replaced with symbols. I have tried a few word document recovery files but they are just opening it with the symbols. I would probably be crying right now if it wasn't for the fact that the essay is in for tomorrow and I do have a back up albeit a really old one <_< this is the worst part, trying to rememeber what you wrote first time around Any suggestions? (tried opening it on two computers, using MS word & openoffice)
Asha Posted 16 February 2009 Share Posted 16 February 2009 Try opening with Wordpad or Notepad to try and get some of the text back?
BoneDog Posted 16 February 2009 Share Posted 16 February 2009 You might just have to change the font back to ariel or something. If it in symbols it could just of gone into wingdings mode or summat. Open it, click on tools or edit or one of them things at top n see if you can change the font back to ariel. Might be format you have to click, not edit or tools

Hitesh Posted 17 February 2009 Share Posted 17 February 2009 Try notepad ++ or even wordpad! What is the file format the document was saved in? Are you sure it's a .doc or .docx file?
