Ozwin Posted 6 March 2010 Author Share Posted 6 March 2010 The first hour of Mass Effect is ****, it's just the build up to when it hits the fan. It seriously gets going afterwards.
potter3 Posted 8 March 2010 Share Posted 8 March 2010 Played it a bit more last night, getting into it now. Funnily enough, my time played when I first loaded it up was exactly 1 hour.
Legend_in_blue Posted 8 March 2010 Share Posted 8 March 2010 30 hours in now. I still haven't got the Reaper IFF(?) and have just about scanned every last planet possible. Each system brings up an anomoly and it's taking time to clear those. I literally haven't left any stone unturned so to speak at this point. I swear Tali is one step away from being smitten I'm still working on that one. I'm going to struggle to finish this one and Bio2 for FFXIII this week and GoW3 next week. Can't see it happening. Too much to do and not enough time! Splinter Cell Conviction isn't far away from release either.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 10 March 2010 Share Posted 10 March 2010 Finished it, 30 hours, although there is stuff I can still do. I was kind of pissed off, I got with Tali but lost her, Jack and Thane just after going through the Omega 4 Relay (This isn't spoilering it, absolutely anything can happen depending on how you played the game) and Miranda during the mission there. (Again, no spoiler, anything can happen). It was an epic epic EPIC ending though. Love the sound-track, the little crescendo when you finish a mission is boss. Very much looking forward to three. Remember, if your character dies then you start with someone different in ME3, if you start a new game with no import in ME3, the only way to continue as Shepard is to finish without dying. (Close run thing for me!)

Part Of The Crowd Posted 10 March 2010 Share Posted 10 March 2010 Your character can die perminantly on it? News to me. According to the makers, if it's going to happen, the storyline will build up to it. It all depends on what you do in game and what you did in Mass Effect 1. I don't know what events lead up to Shepard dying and you not being able to use him in ME3.
potter3 Posted 10 March 2010 Share Posted 10 March 2010 So if I got the next one, I'd still have to be the useless Infiltrator class?
Part Of The Crowd Posted 10 March 2010 Share Posted 10 March 2010 So if I got the next one, I'd still have to be the useless Infiltrator class? I'd assume you get to alter appearance and class again. Just like the beginning of this one.
Legend_in_blue Posted 10 March 2010 Share Posted 10 March 2010 Unfortunately I completed this game today. Not good. Not good from the point of view that I've now got to wait about 3 years for what should be the greatest ending to a trilogy of games that have, so far, been truly excellent. An absolutely fantastic game executed brilliantly in its final moments. The suicide mission was going oh so well until I sent Zaeed back with the crew members I rescued. For some strange reason, he didn't make it. Everybody else on the team did. Can't say I liked the fella that much, but cheers Zaeed, you cost me 75 achievement points. As for Tali, what a great night that was before the suicide mission. Still didn't get to see exactly what was behind the mask, but I'm sure there's more to be had in ME3. Joking aside, great game. 32 hours all in. The job lot. Superb.

I've got a save file from when you meet Legion so I'll have another go from there and do a few more side missions, gain some Paragon and do a few last minute things differently and see if it makes a difference, I want a clean save for the next game. It's supposed to be annouced (The new one's date) mid 2011, I can guess that it'll be later 2012 that it comes out. Massive shame, I've really enjoyed the past 40 hours of gaming on it and the first one.
Ozwin Posted 11 March 2010 Author Share Posted 11 March 2010 I read somewhere that they want to get ME3 out as quickly as they can so it won't be a massive wait, hopefully.

Mistake, everyone else survived. Got a save just before going through the relay though so will go back and get those 75 points at some point, I believe the best way to keep person alive who is escorting back to the ship is to send someone big and bulky like Wrex. Apparently he survives every time if loyal. Also don't let anyone not loyal do anything. If your losing people when going through the Relay you need to sort your ship out otherwise they'll die everytime you go through.

If your losing people when going through the Relay you need to sort your ship out otherwise they'll die everytime you go through. Indeed. I realised this when reflecting on what I'd done later. Zaeed was the only one not loyal apart from Miranda, the stroppy cow. Garrus is a legend. In fact, so many of the characters are cool in this game I haven't found myself really getting into a set of characters since the likes of FFX, when I actually gave a monkeys about the story. It is possible to lose everyone on your team, including Shepard, but how this is done, I don't know. A really good story drives a game forward as it does here, the story is great imo and you never forget those games which give you one.
potter3 Posted 22 March 2010 Share Posted 22 March 2010 Completed the first the other day, I'm assuming the 2nd is as good or better? Took me 27 hours or something, although I did do quite a few side missions.

Everyone who owns a 360 absolutely must experience this game. I'll go through it again, but FFXIII is eating the hours at the mo. Those cutscenes have to be watched twice as well though 'cos the quality is so bad I can't pick it all up first time round... They're terrible
Dames Posted 30 April 2010 Share Posted 30 April 2010 Old thread is old.
